Contracts call for probe into Wisconsin vote 'illegalities'

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Retired police officers hired by Wisconsin Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos are being paid $3,200 a month to investigate “potential irregularities and/or illegalities" in the 2020 presidential election, contracts obtained by The Associated Press show.

The investigators will be paid $9,600 each over three months to conduct the probe, according to the documents provided Thursday to the AP by the Assembly chief clerk's office under the open records law. Vos signed two contracts in recent days and has said he intends to hire a third investigator and an attorney to oversee the probe.

Vos last month announced plans to have officers investigate the election results as part of the Republican response to former President Donald Trump's narrow loss in Wisconsin. Republicans have also ordered a review by the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau and they have passed several bills tightening rules for absentee voting, measures Democratic Gov. Tony Evers is all but certain to veto.

In Wisconsin, local election officials identified just 27 cases of potential voter fraud out of nearly 3.3 million votes cast in the November election that they forwarded to prosecutors. No charges have been brought in any of the cases.

Republicans in other states are also conducting audits and reviews after Trump made unproven and discredited allegations of widespread voter fraud and abuse. Several Wisconsin Republican lawmakers recently traveled to Arizona to observe an audit being conducted there. Vos has said he does not anticipate a similar review in Wisconsin, citing his hiring of the retired investigators instead.

Sounds like a waste of time to me. A full audit needs to be performed.

The correct order of things should be a full forensic audit, and then based on findings a full criminal investigations.

Note that with the terrorist-Associated ApePee, the vote fraud question is a one-way street.

They trip all over instances of open and notorious vote fraud and election-rigging while clawing their way to publish "information" to try to shut down honest inquiries into the election-rigging and vote fraud.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court admitted publicly that the people who claimed that they were "indefinitely confined" in order to "vote by mail" were probably lying, but refused to throw out their votes [200,000 of them].

This reportliar needs punched in his lying face.

You can bet your -- whatever, as there is no risk of losing the bet -- that the election officials in all of the states as well as the Roberts USSC is working double -- if not triple -- shifts to defeat, hide or at least obscure the results of all of these audits.

This is not to say the audits shouldn't be conducted; rather, it's to acknowledge (reaffirm, actually) what we already know about the outcomes: That no one -- no one -- will ever be held accountable for anything -- anything -- the audits prove they've done wrong.

Words matter. With respect to voting laws, a court can only determine whether an election was ‘lawful’ according to state and Federal laws. The courts can only find fact; they have no power to effect a ‘cure’ or define further action.
