Robert L. Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television and America’s first Black billionaire, wants a check. He wants it from the government. And he wants it to come with an apology for slavery, Jim Crow, and hundreds of years of racism.
The 75-year-old media magnate owns several homes, heads an asset management firm, and was the first Black person to own a majority stake in an NBA team. He doubts that check will ever come, but he sees a new kind of reparations—being called by a different name so as not be “divisive” or “controversial”—happening already.
The new “reparations” is critical race theory education, it’s the housing grant program in Evanston, Illinois, it’s the $5 billion of targeted support and debt relief for Black farmers, and it’s the $50 billion in corporate pledges in the wake of George Floyd’s murder dedicated to combating systemic racism and inequality. (Even though just $250 million, or 0.5%, has actually materialized so far.)

Doesn’t this guy support Trump?
I might think about reparations after this black billionaire pays our family for the blood that was shed to free the blacks from slavery during the Civil War.
Um, Vibe magazine called Donald Trump the first black billionaire back in 1999.
How about GFY!
Civil War Union casualties:
110,100 Union soldiers died in battle: 67,088 KIA, 43,012 MW. 224,580 died of disease. 2,226 were wounded. 1 Army commander, 3 corps commanders, 14 division commanders, and 67 brigade commanders, including 32 generals, were killed in the Union Army.
Because his distant ancestors were brought to this country, it gave him the opportunity to become a billionaire, rather than being chased around Africa by a crazed elephant.
His ex-wife owns some hotel, restaurant and spa in the ritzy hunt country of Middleburg, VA so the whole family has done quite well in this hellhole. But like Michelle Obama (Princeton, Harvard Law, but somehow flunked the Illinois Bar exam which 90 percent pass) her husband has no gratitude of any type.
I got your reparations check right here. $45,000 adjusted for inflation to $637,453.27... minus the price of freedom.... which is priceless, so we’ll just call it even.
At the rate they’re going, within a couple of years the CRT crowd will be demanding the expulsion of the southern states from the union.
Reparations requires the Democrat party officially acknowledge their past support for slavery and disband in shame with all its members quitting politics.
Sorry but the United States was founded in 1776 and slaves were freed in 1864. That is less than 100 years. Before the United States was founded it was a group of colonies by the British government. If you want reparations for the time period before 1776, you need to seek it from the British not the United States. And that is what is wrong with reparations is that people think it is the USofA that should pay for them when it was the British colonists that brought them here in the first place. Then if they, ancestors of slaves, want more then they have to eventually go back to the warring tribes of Africa for their reparations. Oh wait, those tribes have little no money, never mind.
The slavery debt in the United States, has been paid in full for many years. The first installment was the ante bellum abolitionist movement, coupled with the Underground Railroad. The second installment was the carnage of the Civil War. The third installment was the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The fourth installment was Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The fifth installment was the Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The sixth installment was Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The seventh installment was the Twenty-third Amendment to the United States Constitution. The eighth installment was the Twenty-fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The ninth installment was the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Pub.L. 88–352, 78 Stat. 241, enacted July 2, 1964.) The Constitution of the United States has been amended five times as reparation for the evil of slavery. That is almost 30% of the seventeen amendments added since the original ten. All the installments are actions or laws designed and executed by decent human beings to abolish the inhumanity inflicted on fellow human. The installments are also designed to ensure no human being in the United States will ever have to suffer such tribulation again. Slavery, abolished 156 years ago, has nothing to do with the so called “racism” that is currently in vogue. Admittedly there is angst and hatred based on skin color. It continues because as human beings we allow it to continue. There is no logical reason “racism” should exist. It is an obsolete cultural relic. The is only one who is supreme. We are blessed in the United States, for all citizens have equal footing. Within the bounds of human decency everyone is free and encouraged to excel at their endeavors. Put an end to diversity which groups people by insignificant labels. Replace diversity with teamwork, compassion, encouragement, understanding, and friendship.
Okey dokey then…
First, lets find out if any of your predecessors owned slaves. There were thousands of black American slave owners.
Yeah, I’ll pay attention when the Muslims who provided the slaves to us in the first place, and still provide slaves today, are required to pay reparations first.
Reparations have been paid for do the body count then say thank you.
Hey Bob, l owe you nothing. My parents owe you nothing. My grandparents owe you nothing. My ancestors in Italy and Spain owe you nothing.
Rather you owe me. My tax dollars lost on the non-optional investment in the war on poverty, disadvantages forced on my family for not being the right color, crime disproportionate to population and the costs associated with it and more. Enough of this victim status whining. As a successful business man you should be a role model or minimally start kicking asses and teaching others how to succeed. Your failing the people you claim to serve.
Riddle me this Robert L. Johnson.
My wife is Black and I’m not. Do we get half rations?
