WASHINGTON, Oct. 12—Swine flu vaccination programs in nine states and in Pittsburgh and its suburbs were suspended today, two weeks after they began nationally, after the deaths of three elderly persons who received the vaccine yesterday at a clinic in Pittsburgh.
Federal and Pennsylvania health on cials said there was no evidence that the deaths had resulted from the vaccinations. But they also said that the highly unusual circumstances of three fatalities among the patients of one clinic in such a short time required investigation.
All three patients are known to have had heart disease, health officials said. and autopsies showed that two died of heart attacks. The family of ‘ the third patient did not permit an autopsy.
After the deaths, swine flu immuni,alions were halted throughout Allegheny County, which includes Pittsburgh, and the Federal Center for Disease Control sent doctors to investigate.

I remember those days! I read that more people died while waiting in line to get the shot than ever came down with “swine flu”.

One of the first government scare programs in that you better get the shot or else. A number of folks got Guillain-Barré syndrome from that vaccine including myself (but a very mild case). Any vaccine will have adverse effects on a percentage of it’s victims but most of the time a large percentage of users will be OK.
The truth is that health authorities were terrified of the Swine Flu, which in other nations had shown a similar lethal pattern to the H1N1 Spanish Flu. It was coming in on the heels of the bad Hong Kong Flu of 1968.
President Ford, who faced off with a very strong Democrat congress, for which he had become a “veto king” due to the post-Nixon acrimony, asked for and got an unprecedented appropriation through congress in record time, with almost no debate. And the pharma industry went into overdrive to create a vaccine.
However, they likely would not have made it in time. And yet ironically, just before it hit the US, the Swine Flu mutated into a much less harmful form, very mild.
So President Ford was laughed at for it, and yet he did not mind one bit.
The threat remains, however. In recent times, the H1N1 Ukraine Flu (2009) was about as savage as the Spanish Flu, and while only some 500 died, in some cases it looked like their lungs had been burned.
Don’t even think about stopping this experimental drug until we reach at least 10 million Dead in the USA, check back in January!
How did the country get through the Asian flu and the Hong Kong flu without all the hysterics we’ve gone through with Covid?
Imagine there had been 20 reported deaths after a popular pain med. There would be 24/7 blasting news flashes. Mass obsession. The CEO would go in Tv and announce a recall. Lawsuits would start one minute later.
Compare to effects of the vaccine.

My boyfriend, now husband, was one who had a severe reaction to the swine flu vaccine. He has had serious issues with siezures, extreme headaches, TMIs, and high blood pressure ever since. His brain scans present with white matter that his physicians call mysterious. This is a physically fit active man who is 5 foot 11 inches and has never weighed over 170 lbs.
Didn’t 60 minutes do a story on this? My memory bank is full so I could be mistaken. :0
