Fortunately Mass General was right around the corner and a cool intern sucked it out with a tiny vacuumn
William Shatner suffers from it. On the set filming the Star Trek episode ‘Arena’ (where he fights the Gorn lizard alien) a special effect explosive went off too close to him causing his hearing to have a constant ringing noise. He’s battled it for years and you can pull up online how he’s dealt with it for 50+ years.
Here he is recently talking about it.

Been taking Quercetin for over a year and trying Ginko. Not a dent.
Very frustrating.
I’ve had it most of my life. It comes and goes. And is at a low level of sound. I’ve never sought treatment for it.
had it since a child
gabapentin is supposed to help but it makes mine much worse, and I need the gabapentin
That’s funny...my tinittus means I cannot generally hear crickets...or other high pitched tones
did that work for you?
I take Q and it does zero for my tinnitus
Which is odd for me since crickets help, but I can’t hear high pitched tones, either.
Does help with neuropathy in the feet ?
My hearing loss is also in my left ear.
sugar and too much carbs gives me some ringing, but it’s ususally just food related for me.
A family member lost most hearing and has tinnitus constantly. They watch online videoes about hearing loss ideas, and one I heard them listen to but I did not yet pursue had to do with it;s not just an ear or nerve issue but some thing in the brain that triggers tinnitus.
you may want to look into that angle?
I see others mentioned, and i believe in supplementation since most of us over time and our various situations get deficient in some things.
I’ve been taking a lot of Vit D and it seams to help and I run an overhead fan at night when I sleep
Yes, it’s not an ear issue, but a brain issue. Some guy on You Tube said that gently tapping the back of your skull helps. I tried it and it did help, but only for a few seconds.
There are “crystals” in your ear that help you keep your balance and keep the room from spinning. They can get knocked out of place. See an ear doctor. One who knows how to manipulate your noggin to reset the crystals.
Had terrible tinnitus. Got rid of it quite easily. IMHO it is caused by a slumped neck putting pressure on nerves and muscles around the ear canals.
. So I had a few lessons in the Alexander Technique. That was 30 years ago. It never came back. Perhaps physical therapy would work too, if the practitioner has a clue about lengthening the neck. You really can’t force it or you make it worse.
. Alexander Technique teachers are hard to find, practice mostly in big cities. San Francisco has many. So does Seattle and NYC.
“Neck free, head forward and up to let the spine lengthen and back widen in each and every movement.”
Since it’s apparently a muscular problems, chemical remedies won’t work.
I did. They didn’t see anything wrong, either.
Interesting thread, thanks to all.
Don’t have tinnitus, and never tried this, but in a previous thread here on it, somebody posted a trick which another Freeper was shocked to find worked, right in the thread.

Ref. Shatner
I read quite sometime ago that he almost committed suicide because of it.
I was a swimmer in my younger years and got an infection in my left mastoid. It was bad, I was in the hospital for a couple weeks and bed ridden for a couple more after that. 100 watt guitar amps and guns didn’t help either.
