LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Police suspect one driver got into three crashes on Interstate 15 in the central Las Vegas valley Monday morning, resulting in heavy traffic in both directions.

Collisions on both sides of the interstate near Sahara Avenue had cars moving toward a crawl.

On the northbound side, authorities were blocking at least three lanes for a crash. The scene has been cleared, though some residual backup is expected to continue.

Southbound traffic was backed up past the Spaghetti Bowl and toward Lake Mead Boulevard.

Lt. Jeff Dean with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said a Toyota SUV was heading north on I-15 when it crashed into another vehicle near Spring Mountain Road around 5 a.m.

The Toyota then left the scene and got into a second crash, this time with an LVMPD vehicle near Sahara Avenue.

Dean says the Toyota left that scene as well and crashed for a third time into a median barrier also near Sahara and caught fire.

No injuries were reported and damages to the other vehicles involved are believed to be minor, Dean said. Police suspect the driver of the Toyota was impaired.
