Imagine that you’re a makeup artist or a production manager on a Marvel movie. You’re working long hours and barely have time to shop for groceries or get in any exercise, let alone do yardwork or socialize. But what if your house was a pleasant 10-minute stroll from the studio, during which you passed a craft beer bar and outdoor concert stage? You’re too tired when you get home to think about grocery shopping, but that’s OK, because the delivery robot has just rolled up in front of your house with your weekly order.
That’s the almost-too-utopian promise of Trilith, the town portion of Trilith Studios (formerly Pinewood Atlanta), the homebase for Marvel’s Georgia productions. Pinewood’s (now Trilith) stake in the studios and town was bought out by River’s Rock Trust in 2020. River’s Rock is the independently managed trust of Chick-fil-A principal Dan T. Cathy and his family....
Trilith is a new town for about 5,000 people, created using the principles of New Urbanism, a concept that means neighborhoods should be walkable and compact, with varied building types and less emphasis on cars — basically the polar opposite of the vast majority of tract house developments across the country...
While Chick-fil-A has distanced itself from making donations to conservative organizations lately, Georgia’s stance on political issues including abortion and voting rights continues to create tensions for entertainment companies working in the state. But Marvel’s productions at Trilith Studios show no signs of slowing down and the town will likely continue to grow.
Parker says Trilith has enough land to double the size of the town. “It’s very attractive to a lot of different people,” he says.

[spoiler alert: they find a 1950s-era travel trailer with a 2011 tag on it, parked in this lost town]
Sooo.. No more lies about GA and Jim Crow 2.0 ?
That’s great if that’s how you want to live...
there have been a couple of neighborhoods built in my town like that...and their “downtown” areas have lots of great restaurants and bars...
But me personally, don’t like it and wouldn’t want to live there.
And in our town, most of the people who do live in these kinds of hoods either have no kids or their kids are grown and gone.
Nothing wrong with them...different strokes
Why else live in a preconceived ‘community’?
Sounds a little like how Celebration, FL started out as a Disney town, but with closer ties to the studio.
I bet the Hoa is run by a rabid Karen
I live rural towns, and being able to walk (at least in theory, the car is *right there*) to everywhere (in the summer that is). But I grew up here. The main appeal of this kind of town is, no hoi polloi ****ing up the place with robberies, burglaries, murders, and riots. The only way to live there is to be employed apparently.
Imagine you are a person who contributes nothing of real value to society….

In Rod Serling’s voice? He was an unreconstructed leftist, btw.
Hey, I don’t have to imagine that... ;^)
New urbanism is Stalin’s and Khruschev’s and Brezschnev’s layouts for cities.
You couldnt have or afford cars. You had to walk everywhere. You lived in crappy stalinka/brezschlinka apartment that you paid for, not well kept upand drafty. You walked everywhere because you were a small cog that didnt require a car. You didnt have travel papers that let you leave your area, so everything you needed - which was determined by the state what you needed - was in your immediate area.
They dont tell you you arent going to have personal cars in these places. You wont be able to go other places wjthout a fovernment approved reason. This is what agenda 21 is and this is part of it.
It looks different now because its a test and voluntary and people still have cars and movement now. But the goal is to transform things so you dont have cars and you dont have freedom of movement. Agenda 21 places most of the country off limits to people, and we all live in highly concentrated rsck and stack urban centers run by totalitarians and only very resfricted narrow travel corridors exist between huge metro areas.
Read up on it. The US maps of the plans for this are sobering.
I’ve got a basement full of Number 9 coal, so, screw the store! ;^)
