On April Fools’ Day 1957, BBC viewers watched a program about a "spaghetti tree" in Switzerland, and many were so convinced it was real that they wanted to grow their own.

Kinda like climate change?
Reminds me of the old Prince Spaghetti commercial from the 70s.
A lot of people believe money trees are real.
> Kinda like climate change? <
Oh, yes. But there is one significant difference. You can deny the existence of spaghetti trees without suffering any consequences.
But deny climate change and you will be mocked, shunned, and cancelled. And that’s just for starters.
Bummer.
How about a Meatball tree?
On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed
It rolled off the table, it rolled on the floor
And then my poor meatball rolled out of the door
It rolled in the garden and under a bush
And then my poor meatball was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty as tasty could be,
And early next summer it grew to a tree.
The tree was all covered with beautiful moss
It grew great big meatballs and tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball and don’t ever sneeze.
I guess they could fool people back before all news was fake news.
It was a CIA/MI6 test to see how easily people could be duped and manipulated by the new media of television
And the conclusion was - Its really easy!!
I remember seeing that report watching a newscast with my Dad as a kid. But it was in the 60’s. Don’t remember the context, but they were probably observing an anniversary of the original broadcast.
If spaghettis don’t grow on trees, then where do they come ftom?
“On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese”
Tune: “On Top Of Old Smokey”.
“Momma mia! That’s a spicy eatsa matsa, oh boy! Took two Alka-Seltzer...”
When a mommy Durum Wheat loves a Daddy Durum Wheat..."
LOL!
that was hilarious man
even more would believe it today..
I think David Frost did that in the early 60’s.
