The NFL fines a Redskins coach for failing to take January 6 seriously
American Thinker ^ | 11 Jun, 2022 | Andrea Widburg

A once manly, robust American sport is nothing more than a woke joke that uses its market power to enforce Maoist speech and thought controls.

Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins (and yes, I’m deadnaming a football team originally named to honor the Native American fighting spirit), very politely suggested that, if the Democrats are going to get hysterical about January 6, they also need to take seriously the summer of BLM riots. For his temerity in failing to respect Saint George Floyd, the drug-addicted ex-con, and not taking sufficiently seriously the worst day in American history since Southerners fired on Fort Sumter in 1861, the Redskin’s head coach fined him $100,000.

It all started when Del Rio tweeted out that he cannot understand why so much attention is being paid to January 6, a day of minimal destruction and only one death (at the hands of a Capitol police office), and so little to the BLM riots, which caused dozens of death and billions of dollars of damage across America:

Would love to understand “the whole story “ about why the summer of riots, looting, burning and the destruction of personal property is never discussed but this is ???#CommonSense

— Jack Del Rio (@coachdelrio) June 7, 2022 In a subsequent press conference, Del Rio doubled down on his query, stating it calmly and respectfully, while reminding assembled reporters that free speech is an American right. Del Rio also called January 6 a “dust-up”:

Objectively, Del Rio is correct. January 6 was relatively inconsequential compared to leftist attacks on the Capitol during the Kavanaugh hearings when they invaded the Senate chambers or when they attacked the Supreme Court building or when they rioted and burned through Washington D.C. in May,

The wokeies need to be openly mocked and ridiculed.

(Head coach) Ron Rivera is a wokester suck-up - perfect for a DC sports team.

He doesn't deserve to have a man of integrity like Jack Del Rio (a far better coach) working for him.

Wokeness has killed major league football and other sports as well. I’m so disgusted, that I’ve stopped watching or paying attention.

I don’t really feel too sorry for him. He later backtracked, giving them just want they want, submission. Don’t pay it, tell them to F Off, and go find another job. But he’s tied to that money.

If I was Del Rio I would quit.
He’s 59 y/o and worth $85 million.
Go fishing or do whatever you want...

Why I continue to boycott all professional sports and watch college sports. The OU softball team had an excellent testimony this year focusing on Christ and circled the pitchers circle after every game in prayer.

Every thought, no matter how insignificant, is now monitored. You will lose your job, pension and house for thinking the wrong thoughts. There is no need for a DGB when major employers are already acting as the fascist thought police.

Del Rio’s net worth (depending on what “net worth” website you care to believe) is between 5 to 85 million. Its probably somewhere in the middle. He could easily retire, but at only 59 years old he won’t. Sad that he was back pedalling.

"He’s 59 y/o and worth $85 million."

Got it - but he likes to work and his passion is football. And sadly, the NFL is the "pinnacle" of the football world.

So, does he shut up and keep doing what he loves, or jettison his favorite hobby?

(I was willing to give up the job I love - 43 years in aviation - because of the Covid vax mandates. My company relented and found a way to keep me working and vax-free).

Freedom of speech is dead, the NFL, like so many other institutions in this country have been taken over by their commie masters. The 1/6 Patriots are freedom loving follks and hopefully the day will come when they are pardoned

At this point these organizations are collaborators with the left in destroying our culture and history. If I lived near a re-named team and had even bothered following them, I wouldn’t anymore.

As more and more of us are ground down to paycheck-to-paycheck existence, fewer and fewer people care about the bread-and-circuses distractions.

I understand what he did, and why.
Coaching in the NFL is extremely stressful with long hours.
Many don’t realize, but people can be addicted to stress.
At 6’4” 250, one’s lifespan generally is shorter than average.
It’s his life of course.
