The world’s greatest eater will limp bravely into battle in the sport’s premiere event on Monday, July 4th.
Joey Chestnut shocked the competitive-eating community on Friday when he hobbled into Hudson Yards in New York City on crutches during the official weigh-in before the 2022 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest — a 4th of July tradition on Coney Island.
“I’m gonna eat like a madman,” the world’s top-ranked eater told Fox News Digital before weighing in at 235 pounds.

I gave the guy a couple days warning it was about 50 of us went down there and got hot dogs a bag of chips and a coke and sat outside and had our hot dog soda pop and bag of chips and popped the brown paper bag it came in!

Nathans use to be everywhere in the 1970s and 1980s I even worked at one 1978 here in the leftist sewerhole of NY, but I don’t see any of them around anymore. I guess they were taxed out of existence except for the one in Coney Island.

In the abstract, a fascinating contest. In reality, 10 minutes of disgusting behavior. Notice that news reports of the annual event rarely show the contestants cramming in the dogs & buns, lest they induce a mass gag reflex. (ESPN or some other worthless channel may carry video of the entire thing.)
