Oh He has a battery powered chainsaw? Oh that is your problem right there!!

Dude you should have gotten the gas ones.

I own the 023 (older model) and the Farm Boss. No problems. Except with my 021 which I wore out the motor, my Stihl repair man told me “this is an occasional use chain saw and you have used it more than occasionally”

I own a few battery powered lawn tools that I bought last year and the battery runs down so quickly even with extra batteries.

Gas power is so much better, with the power you need.

Yes you all read correctly, Morgana runs a chain saw.

This spring, I bought a Stihl commercial backpack blower for my yard use. It is easy to start, easy to handle, comfortable, quiet, and turns down to a soft breeze. It is a GREAT product. The only problem is I’m almost 71 and it will no doubt outlast me.

“He now only uses Husqvarna saws.”

I’ve had a Husqvarna “Rancher 255” chaninsaw for quite a few years. My wife got that one too, as a surprise.

Why such a large one? Because the Sears guy asked her how large a tree would I be cutting and she held out arms like 3 feet, so he picked out that one for her.

Heavy but still, after 5 years still starts easily.

I bought a Stihl Farmhand chainsaw. It ran for twenty years. I think my permanent neck damage came from trying start it all those years. Used to be, Stihl service was a selling point. Around here the dealer is great. Sounds like Town and Country is where your main problem is.

“say stay away from big box stores”

Kinda depends on your application I think.

If your just pruning in your yard I think you’d be ok.

However all the pro work I’ve hired to do on my trees those guys use Stihl pretty much exclusively.

Another thing, my research before purchase included scanning youtube videos for reviews......OMG chainsaw porn is as bad as gun porn! Lol!

I have had bad luck with the Stihl ranch hand saw. Moved to Husqvarna and am very happy.

Last summer, this month in fact I rented a Stihl pole pruner from a tool rental company in town. I spent 6 months in rehab from a frozen shoulder. I’m much better but now I really predict the weather and sometimes it’s a little sore.

On some things I’ll go to ace over HD but it’s fairly rare.

Where I am ace is freakin’ too expensive.

They are holding the hard to find hardware though.

Metric, standard, chrome, Galvanized. Off the wall fasteners that the big box stores just don’t have. Very handy but I wouldn’t even think about buying a grill or other big purchase there.

“Battery powered chainsaws are the way to go for trimming trees around the yard. So much cleaner and easier than a gas motor.”

I’m a believer now. Sufficient power. Cuts fast. So light. My wife can use it. I actually miss a gas engine though.

I have a gas powered pole hedge trimmer. Tiny engine. Does a SUPER job. Made by Tanaka. Got in 2017 for about $400. Still starts easily. Lightweight. Gets heavier the longer you use it.

Lol geez. I read your post wrong at first. Looked like it said “I know an abortionist who uses stihl products”

We have only used huskies too- good saws.

I used Stihl saws on a Forest Service hotshot crew about 40 years ago. We had 038 Supers with a 28” bar. Great cutters, but almost impossible to restart in hot temperatures (which is most of the time on the fire line). We’d typically refuel with them running, not the best idea.

These days all I have is a Homelite and a Craftsman, both 18”. I haven’t used either one since we moved two years ago. Wonder if they’d start.

We're dealing with Home Depot now about a Ryobi string trimmer.

Ryobi has 2 yr warranty
HD sold me an extended 2 yr for up to $149.00
I have every receipt since the purchase including repairs/returns/etc.

Purchased June 2020
broke about june 2021
Ryobi replaced with brand new one
broke again June 2022
Ryobi repaired broken part

We just got THAT repair back last week and two hours in, the stringer head broke and needs to be replaced, but my model is discontinued

Fought on the phone yesterday for about three hours and finally got someone who found a bar code w/numbers needed for HD to even talk to me.

Will continue today.

Does anyone have any preferences for string trimmers?

I DO know they're ALL short lived and etc.

Sorry for your bad experience. I have two Stihl chainsaws, the electric hand trimmer and the Kombi system with several different attachments.

I have had good luck and know several commercial tree cutting companies in my area who use Stihl exclusively.

The one thing I will comment on is to use the prepared gas blend product instead of doing the gas mix route. The stuff is incredibly expensive but Stihl will stand their warranty.
