I just received the below email from the Missouri AG:
Missouri Attorney General Condemns FBI’s Illegal Attempts to Harvest Concealed Carry Permit Information from Missouri Sheriffs
July 13, 2022 Contact: Constituent Services Office: 573-751-3321
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Today, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding that they cease their attempts to illegally obtain information from local sheriffs on Missourians who have concealed carry permits. Missouri law specifically prohibits the sharing of information on concealed carry permit holders to any entity – local, state, federal, or otherwise.
“The FBI has absolutely no business poking around in the private information of those who have obtained a concealed carry permit in Missouri,” said Attorney General Schmitt. “The Second Amendment rights of Missourians will absolutely not be infringed on my watch. I will use the full power of my Office to stop the FBI, which has become relentlessly politicized and has virtually no credibility, from illegally prying around in the personal information of Missouri gun owners.”
The Missouri Attorney General’s Office became aware that the FBI is planning to travel to Missouri in August to do “audits” at sheriff departments across the state, which would include harvesting information on those who have legally obtained a concealed carry permit. The letter states, “It has come to my attention that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has informed several Missouri county sheriffs that they will be showing up in August to ‘audit’ CCW permit holder records. The FBI states that, ‘The audit includes an onsite review of your Concealed Carry Weapons Permits…’ Let me be perfectly clear. Allowing federal agents from the FBI to have access to records of Missourians who have a permit to carry a concealed weapon violates Missouri law and infringes on our Second Amendment rights.”
Missouri law states, “Information retained in the concealed carry permit system under this subsection shall not be distributed to any federal, state, or private entities . . . .” § 571.101.9(2), RSMo.
At the end of the letter, Attorney General Schmitt promises to use the full power of his Office to stop the FBI’s attempts to obtain information on Missouri concealed carry weapons permit holders.

Should be interesting if they and these sheriff's attempt the audit.
Will the MO state police be waiting and once a record is presented to an FBI agent by a SO personnel, will they both be arrested under both the CCW records statute and the MO 2a Preservation statute?
Only by a court order pursuant to a criminal inquiry or investigation may Missouri CCW records be released by the county sheriff who issued it.
Makes me wonder how many state AGs are complying. I hope Florida isn’t one of them.
“The letter states, “It has come to my attention that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has informed several Missouri county sheriffs that they will be showing up in August to ‘audit’ CCW permit holder records.”
The FBI has zero legal oversight authority to show up and audit a Sheriff. If they think there is a violation of Federal law they can go to a judge and get a search warrant.
And of course, they can expect ZERO assistance from local cops they do such things against for such political activities.
FBI simply does not have the skill or agents to do things on their own. And when they do make an arrest, they need privileges at the local jail, otherwise it might be a VERY long drove to a federal lockup, and no, you cannot do pretrial detention at a regular federal penitentiary.
Yet another reason for constitutional carry. It’s also a reason there should be zero background checks. The FBI regularly visits gun stores without warrants. Just image the pressure a small mom and pop gun store owner feels when some scumbag FBI POS hints at losing their license.
The State AG and a local Sheriff need to execute a search warrant on the local FBI office for violation of Mo law. They have that same power.
The FBI needs information on law abiding Americans because they plan on doing things that might make us not so abiding any longer.

In other words: when we get Order 66, these people will be first on the list.
You can bet that most states are saying the FBI... “come on down”.
Isnt this illegal?
I never liked the idea of CCW because of this very reason so I never got one while everyone else was jumping on the bandwagon to obtain one.
The FBI has lost its constitutional cover to exist as a law enforcement entity. They are now nothing but a bunch of well-informed thugs available to the highest bidder. Pray for America.
Yet another reason for constitutional carry.
I hope the local sheriffs arrest the FBI agents who demand the information, or even ‘ask nicely pretty please’. It’s against state law.
Missouri sheriffs who give CC permit information to the FIB contrary to Missouri law are giving aid and comfort to the domestic enemies of the United States.
Go with Constitutional Carry and send the FBI the phonebook .
My definition of constitutional carry is slightly different. It’s called the 2nd Amendment. Constitutional carry to me means an absence of laws. In Pennsylvania for instance, “open carry” has always existed because there is no law for or against it. That’s not to be confused with “concealed carry - shall issue” where PA is just as unconstitutional as many states. You don’t need a law to give inalienable rights. In fact, it’s a major problem when there are such laws. The effect is that government becomes a usurper of God’s Devine will. Anything government gives can be taken away.
It is according to several Missouri laws. Concealed carry licenses early until about 2008 we’re maintained by the department of revenue, they gave those records to the social security administration and maybe other agencies in the guise of finding prohibited person’s by virtue of SS rulings on financial incompetence....
MO changed how and who CCW licenses were issued and recorded. Now, your county sheriff issues and records the license, the state doesn’t know who holds a license. By law the records are closed unless a court order is in hand.
Here is the scary part of this operation: it went through FBI lawyers for legal comment.
The reigns of government are still being weaponized against us. This should be a Congressional hearing.
CCWs are no longer mandated in Missouri.
