Don’t you ever wonder why so many Federation starships in Star Trek suffer weirdly-timed meltdowns? Sure, it’s television, but shouldn’t there be a real reason for all the shenanigans? For all that really weird engineering?
There is. And that reason is simple–humans are ridiculous. And wonderful. But also ridiculous.

Some of the comments are pretty funny.
Thanks for this. I’ve been lately binge watching deep space 9. It is a really good show. The best trek show in my opinion
In my opinion, Enterprise had the potential to be a Babylon 5 style show. Also I think Voyager should have ended without the crew getting and they either die in space or they land on a planet as colony and create a new society.
Those would have been better.
Yep. Just like we love stories about Florida man, the aliens report about Terra man.
Well, all the women wear miniskirts. So there’s that. But it was the late 60’s, so there’s that too.
Lol
Let’s file this under stupid questions on a democrat would ask.
I never watched it before but am currently watching SG-1. On like eps 6 in season 7 and it is text book of your comment!! And if looked at that way while watching (which I do) that’s an entertainment in itself!!!
That’s what the ufos are.
Camera crews from Alien TV.
“Can you believe they’re risking nuclear war to secure the border of the Ukraine and won’t even secure their own border?!”
That line of approach was tried with Stargate Universe.
At first, the show dragged on and on with them, stuck abord an ancient star cruiser, had to survive with episodes like “Air” and “Water, etc....it was only in the second season that we got to see the best of the show. The episodes where the descendants of the Universe inhabitants started other worlds. Then it got cancelled.
I haven't watched "Deep Space 9", but I thought the series "Enterprise" was quite good..
I think a brilliant ending for Voyager should have been a confrontation with the Borg, where they are losing. They find a planet to land on that the Borg cannot detect. They send a signal to the Federation of their location.
As an epilogue, the Federation has defeated the Borg and finally develops the warp speed to go rescue them. They find the planet and all seems well. So, they land a landing party, but the planet is empty. They find the beacon by a cave and they see a drawing on the cave of either Borg cube or a Borg landing party
Then the show ends.
Spoilers, so perhaps save for when you’ve finished the binge.

It was a good show until they introduced the time guardians and Enterprise J.
I thought the revealing of Vulcans being underhanded with the Andorians was a genius move on part of the writers.
Okay, bookmarking to read later.
It gets a lot of flack from the nerd community, but I agree. The transition from isolated episode show in the first two seasons to more of a story of continuing chapters in a longer overall plot line in the last two was, I thought, brilliant.
The viewership didn't agree. Oh well.
Yeah, "the time guardians", that was a bad idea.. It kinda mucked up the whole deal...
Bump for later
Are we talking the real Star Trek, or all the long running reboots of Star Dreck?
