A look at how the majority of the rest of the world sees things through the lens of Pepe Escobar.
Pepe Escobar is a Brazilian journalist and geopolitical analyst. His column "The Roving Eye" for Asia Times regularly discusses the multi-national "competition for dominance over the Middle East and Central Asia."
Very useful, eye opening discussion for the very intelligent freepers. I do not recommend it for the others.
Thanks for finding this, he said everything didn’t he?
Yes, the weak minded should skip it.
Well, I'm not the condescending douchenozzle who said that this is something that could only be understood by "very intelligent freepers", and that the others shouldn't bother. That level of condescension immediately sent up a red flag that this is probably somebody whose recimmendations I should disregard.
Your response suggests that you too are somebody who's advice I should not take either. Principally because you advised me that "reading" other perspectives was valuable, but this particular perspective is a two plus hour YouTube video that I'd obviously have to watch - for two freaking hours - rather than read.
So first, you apparently don't understand the difference between reading, and watching. Either that, or you are recommending that I click on a link that you yourself haven't checked out.
But second, there is no way I am going to take 2+ hours out of the day to watch a YouTube video of someone of whom I have never heard, based on recommendations by people I don't know and whose judgment I have no reason to trust.,
In fact, I think that is the course that most "very intelligent Freepers" will choose.
"The Left Lens with Danny Haiphong"
"Regular streams, videos, and interviews from an anti-imperialist and socialist perspective from your host, Danny Haiphong"
I'll bet he is popular among communist tyrannies too. He repeats the Russian talking points faithfully, thinks North Korea is great, and loves Cuba.
What other communists are you a fan of?
When the source linked by the poster is an avowed socialist touting the advantages of Russia, North Korea, China and Iran I doubt that their perspective is worth much.
The DPRK is not the enemy.China is not the enemy.
Iran is not the enemy.
Russia is not the enemy.
U.S. imperialism is, in fact, the enemy of humanity
It only takes a few minutes reading Haiphong's twitter channel to know where he and his guests are coming from.
Putin's fan club is showing their true orientation. Their idea of how to spend Thanksgiving is watching some communist talk about their favorite communist talking points.
From Danny Haiphong:
Hong Kong is China.Crimea is Russia.
And Israel is PALESTINE.
The United States State Department's Global Engagement Center (GEC) has identified several outlets that publish or republish work by Escobar as being used by Russia for propaganda and disinformation.[30][31] In 2020, the GEC stated that both the Strategic Culture Foundation (SCF) and Global Research, two online journals where Escobar's work has appeared, acted as pro-Russian propaganda sites.[32] According to the GEC, "Pepe Escobar began writing articles for Global Research in 2005 and ten years later became an SCF author.[30]Escobar has also been a commentator for RT and Sputnik News; both outlets were highlighted in a 2022 GEC report as members of "Russia's disinformation and propaganda ecosystem."[31] Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Yermolenko describes Escobar as an example of "anti-Western intellectuals" hosted by RT, adding that Escobar suggests "dividing Ukraine between Poland and Russia."[33]
In 2012, Jesse Zwick at The New Republic asked Escobar why he was willing to work with RT; Escobar replied, "I knew the Kremlin involvement, but I said, why not use it? After a few months, I was very impressed by the American audience. There are dozens of thousands of viewers. A very simple story can get 20,000 hits on YouTube. The feedback was huge.”[34]
On February 25, 2022, the Spanish newspaper ABC criticized Escobar's Sputnik comments concerning Ukraine and other topics, calling them "the usual ones of Russian disinformation: 'Yankee' imperialism, NATO excesses, Russian victimization."[35]
Escobar has called what is going on pretty well. The move of Russia, India, and others away from the U.S. is due to our stupidity and arrogance. what is happening is that the BRICS countries see and opportunity and are taking it.
Our days of Hegemony are about over, if I could move all my assets to Eurasia I would, the real growth of the next 50 years will be there. We on the other hand are probably headed for, at the very least, a Bond Default on all our debt, which is the only way we can start over. That is our chance and only chance. Europe is now yesterday’s news and even Germany sees this and is moving toward BRICS. The EU is on life support as well as the EURO, it has been declining since the Ukraine War started just like the Pound has.
I’m sure he does. FR is basic a repository for literally anti-American, Russian/Chinese propaganda now.
Right, because I'm not a hard-left, American-hating, avowed socialist revolutionary like Danny Haiphong. Do you have any clue who that guy is?? How he even describes himself?
You guys are either utterly ignorant morons, or are active leftist agents. There is no other explanation for why you are promoting someone like him here.
You are promoting an openly anti-American, hard-left narrative here. Exactly what does that make you
Guess I'll make it my job to know the rest of FR is aware of this when you post.
Right, because I’m not an American-hating, avowed socialist, BLM advocate like your pal that your pushing here.
Nothing is stopping you. Go ahead and let us know how it works out.
The globalist crew is trying to dismantle BRICS+.
B — fraudulent election as here complete with the usual judge-delivered refusal to even hear the facts and punishment of those daring to ask the question.
R — standard-issue “regime change” protocol except it’s hurting the so-called West at least as much as it’s hurting R.
I — no idea what’s next for them but since they’ve been happily buying R oil and gas and reselling it to the detriment of The Plan, I wouldn’t doubt they’re on the list. Problem is that in pursuit of globalism they put I people on top of all the globalist companies and even one into the UK top job.
C — is for C and nobody else; probably very happy to see everyone fight while they continue their plans. That Soros sees them as the model is telling.
S+ — irrelevant if the rest fall in line; absolutely stand to benefit if BRICS+ endures.
Of course the hard part is that the globo left “West” can’t stand if there’s a serious alternative, and so terrible things will continue until we get rid of our globalists or the globalists manage to provoke the getting rid of everyone.
Once I protested at the Georgia State Capitol for changes to ballot access laws that favored Democrats and Republicans. I found myself there with the Constitution Party members but also with Greens and Socialist Workers party guys. That didn't mean the excessive and oppressive ballot access laws didn't need to be changed, and of course still do.
Pepe was saying very well, things we already knew about piece by piece but he said all of it, all at once in one interview.
The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov has stated that ‘over a dozen’ countries have formally applied to join the BRICS grouping following the groups decision to allow new members earlier this year.
Pepe Escobar described a very organized and comprehensive plan to topple our Dollar as the reserve currency of the world. If they are successful, after the amount of debt we have built up, it will suddenly put us in bankruptcy. This is something we all should pay attention to.
One might ask how many avowed socialists in the EU, Canada and our United States of America there are. Given that some membership of the DSA sits in our own governments, federal and below, and some likely on our courts benches, and given the observable fact that much of academia is captured by socialists of varied flavors in the moment, and adding in the sorts of celebrity talking heads in news and opinion, your complaint rings a little hollow.
The "word" of an enemy as much as a friend is worth noting, which one finds in many adages and slogans we often spout at one another in lieu of more in-depth discussion.
As to BRICS, which seems something that will change as time passes, "advantage" is something they seem to be seeking, and it is wise and NOT foolish to heed their views. Had one believed what Mein Kapmpf or the Koran actually said before letting these kinds of hatreds slip in under our radar, one would have been better prepared for events such as we have seen. An "avowed socialist" and his words are worth taking to heart, even as we would disagree with them. Fervently.
