Inflation is taking its toll on Sin City as fewer tourists are visiting the gambling Mecca, and those who do spend less than usual, according to a new report.
The University of Las Vegas business school released a report forecasting the city's economic outlook between 2022 and 2024 and noted that its economy turned grim in June of this year, according to Fox 5.
"Interest rates have gone up. And we know that we know that prices are going up as well. And that’s what the Fed is trying to get their hands around and solve. So it may be that the Fed’s policies is having an effect not only nationally, but it’s also affecting our economy locally," one of the study's authors, Professor Stephen Miller, told the outlet.
Miller's findings indicate that Las Vegas has had fewer and fewer visitors since this summer when adjusted for holiday travel surges.

how did Clark County vote? ...well, there you have it.
Was going to go to Vegas with some friends right before Covid hit.
Maybe I’ll have to make plans to go back there soon.
And Vegas sucks.
Las Vegas isn’t the Las Vegas of old. All it is now, is a shiny hole where morons go to get mugged and rolled. They even made it look like a dark New Yawk alley for the idiots that go there.
We need a GoFundMe for the hookers. This is probably hitting them right square in the G-string.
Whores and coke dealers hardest hit.
Henderson’s a better option.
The wages of Sin are deflating?
I’ve been there. Can’t really see why you’d go if you aren’t into gambling.
Gambling is against my religion - Mathematics of Probability and Statistics.
That's what they said about DC.
Who needs Vegas? Nice casino complexes reasonablly close to most folks these days.
Thank Biden.
Vegas doesn’t have the same slush fund as DC...
We used to go in the 90s. Up and down the strip were a lot of little hole in the wall casinos and restaurants. Had a lot of fun just walking along and occasionally dropping into one of them .
Now, all there are are mega casinos with their own copies of the same things the next mega casino has. Everything is too polished and expensive. They no longer look to be willing to exchange even a small amount of fun for your money.
We went on a driving trip from Vegas to Colorado a couple of years ago. Spent the last night in Vegas.
We won’t be going back.
Liked Vegas when I stayed there in the early 90’s to work on the last underground nuke tests in Mercury and later Yucca Mountain. With the per dime and cheap food and rooms you could actually make a profit if you didn’t gamble.
The story is BS. Check Nevada Gaming Commission stats. While the number of visitors is down gaming revenues are at all time highs.
It was a bit before then, in the mid-to-late 80s, when I was doing a fair amount of geology and geophysics work in the Las Vegas area. You’re right that food was cheap back when the casino management thought they had to have inexpensive restaurants to get people to come and gamble. Eventually they discovered that people were going to come lose their money anyway, so prices went up a lot.
It was nice back then, though, to hit the Flamingo buffet after a long day in the field, and stuff yourself with good food for about $10.
Since I had to leave at 3 AM to get to the tunnels for the morning shift, the breakfast at that hour was so cheap, the tip was about 200% and still just a couple bucks.
Last time i was there was about 15 years ago. Thugs on the street. Illegals forcibly handing out pornos on the street corners. Harassed by pan handlers while gambling. Never again. GFY Vegas.
