WASHINGTON, May 2 (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co (F.N) said on Tuesday it is cutting prices on its Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle and reopening orders after a series of price cuts by rival Tesla Inc (TSLA.O), the second time it has reduced prices this year.
The No. 2 U.S. automaker said it is also increasing the range for standard-range battery models as it increases production in the second half of the year.
Ford said it is cutting most Mach-E prices by $3,000 or $4,000 depending on the version or by as much as 7.8%. The price of the Mach-E Premium rear-wheel drive version is dropping from $50,995 to $46,995.
Ford shares were down 2.7% at $11.73 at midday on Tuesday.
Last month, the federal EV tax credit for the Mach-E fell by half to $3,750 from $7,500 after new battery sourcing requirements took effect.
Mustang Mach-E U.S. sales fell 20% in the first three months of the year.

“when buying an ecar, you better buy as much performance as you can afford, cause there’s no adding it later...”
Absolutely false! EV’s, like ICE cars, are conservatively tuned for everyday driving and warranty considerations. Hackers are breaking the software to increase performance.
“We sold our BMW to Carvanna for more than we paid for it “
hmmmm
BMW’s have the worst resale value of any car.
NOPE!
POS doesn’t even resemble a Mustang.
My dad bought one. Landau roof. 120hp 6cyl 3 speed. Not a screamer. Kinda fun though.
You could get the same engines in the Falcon. Cheaper than a Mustang and you could still option the 271hp 289 v8. A real sleeper. Don’t forget to put sand bags in the trunk. Lol.
Or their preferred solution for us:
DIE.
Fishtail like a spawning salmon...
When I lived up North and in Germany (yes, I brought my 89 F-150 with me) I'd throw in several bags of sand and kitty litter, line 'em up right over the rear axle. Great stuff if your tires spin on slick ice. Adds traction.
We hardly ever get snow or ice down here in South Alabama, but when we do, half the vehicles in ditches are pickups with nothing in the bed.
Dude swore he had in four-wheel drive, too!
Indeed No. 2 U.S. automaker
sure on the track cause hacking voids warranty
how many will be willing to void the warranty on their daily driver?
you can change things on an ice car that won’t
I’ll wait for five to ten years and buy a used one......../not!
Wonder what the tax credit is for someone purchasing a used one.......(assuming someone is stupid enough to buy one)
So does modifying an ICE car.
“you can change things on an ice car that won’t”
Same as for EV’s.
honest question:what performance enhancements can you make?
Sky's the limit. 1400 h0 Mach-E.
1400 horsepower
IT’S NOT A MUSTANG!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!
Coyote, baby. 435Hp
Before the EV thing got serious, the noise was considered. Somebody suggested the sound the Jetsons’ flying car made. I think that’s the sound they need.
Funny how the price dropped almost to the dollar of the lost subsidy.
Some things make ya go HMMMM
