An Indiana sheriff’s deputy died protecting her young son from a “pitbull-type” dog that attacked them inside her home Tuesday night, according to authorities.
Tamieka White, a deputy in Marion County for 17 years, was remembered as a “bright light” a day after the was pronounced dead at the scene of the grisly dog attack that also left her 8-year-old kid injured,

The dog was shot and killed by an Indianapolis cop after the animal pounced at police.
Authorities said the dog didn’t belong to White, 46, but have not revealed the identity of the animal’s owner.
“She died last night protecting the most important person in her life,” Brittany Seligman, the slain deputy’s commander said

Indianapolis Animal Care Services said in a statement it seized three additional dogs and a cat from White’s home, and also impounded the dead dog’s body.
The breeds have not been confirmed yet, pending a DNA test, but said all the dogs appeared to be a “pitbull-type.”

Always be carrying… yes, even at home. Trouble can come right through that doorway. Happens everyday to someone somewhere. And no good reason not to.
I learned nothing from this piece! This is journalism? This story is so weird that, perhaps, they didn’t want to risk providing more of the facts. Maybe, this woman wasn’t as heroic or as competent as they would like to portray her. Any dog that would bite any member of my family would be euthanized on the spot as a dangerous dog!
We need to ban “assault-style” dogs.

I suspect she was sitting the dog for someone. Seems odd that the dog would get inside unless it was chasing the child perhaps

It’s originally from the indy star, which has terrible writing and reporting. I’m not certain she was an “deputy” as much as she was a jailer- it doesn’t mean that she deserved to be killed by a dog. But there is a distinct difference between a road cop and a jailer. East is east and west is west.
Same answer. Babysitting strange pit bull with your own dogs…. Definitely carry then!

If on Twitter or Facebook this would be followed by 30 pit owners saying 1 of about 3 things:
1. Their pitbull is named cuddles and he would lick you to death
2. It’s not the breed it’s the owners
3. Any dog can do that, stop picking on pits
Logical arguments using stats such as from the given website roll off them like rain on a Duck’s back.
Obviously, having any pittie DNA is like rabies — only a matter of time.
But, yes, those fools who bought one will defend — just like someone delusional enough to spew woke BS.
We need sensible pit bull control. A waiting list to buy and no loopholes.
These are dogs that canNOT be trusted. When I’m out walking my dog I will quietly go across the street the moment I see one.
