A Nebraska 18-year-old who celebrated his high school graduation with a trip to Arizona has been found dead in a desert bonfire pile — in what authorities described as a “malicious” death.
Parker League’s body was discovered June 12 in the remote Bulldog Canyon, part of the Tonto National Forest, on the day he was supposed to fly back home after his trip to Tempe, KNXV reported.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office called League’s death “malicious.”
The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.
“He was found in the pile burning,” said police spokesman Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.

This sounds like the mark of a cartel. Wrong place at the wrong time?

Why was he going to Tempe, specifically? Checking out ASU? I live near the Tempe border, and although it isn’t southside Chicago, if you look for trouble you can find it. Definitely gang activity near Southern Ave.

Why would a Nebraskan go to Arizona to celebrate high school graduation? Was he scammed or cat fished? Who did he go there to celebrate with?

Similarities to the Julian Sands story, as far as finding remains in remote mountainous areas.

Since when is murder now called malicious?
Just can not bring themselves to call it what it actually is. Guess they feel the need to provide cover for some woke protected group.

I don't know, Bulldog Canyon is a popular recreational area for tubing the Salt River. It's near Saguaro Lake.

There is no conspiracy. He was simply visiting friends in Arizona.

Definitely gang activity near Southern Ave.When my son worked for Maricopa County transportation planning around 6-7 years ago, he lived in the apartment complex behind Los Reyes de la Torta on Southern. He eventually moved to NS for a better job and less heat, but it seemed reasonably safe there when I would visit.

Southern Avenue is a long stretch of road. Large parts of it are fine, others, not so much. Same with Van Buren and Indian School Road.

This morning C-SPAN was re-showing a program (originally shown on April 29) about the Vietnam War, 50 years later. One of the panelists was former Nebraska governor and senator Bob Kerrey. He mentioned how he was once offered a chance to teach a course at UCSB on the Vietnam War and, after considering whether he wanted to spend January, February and March in Santa Barbara or in Nebraska, he decided to take the opportunity.
Maybe this Nebraskan would still be alive if he had gone to Santa Barbara instead.

I use to go to Tempe a lot when I attended college in a small midwest town. ASU was SO FUN to visit.

I went to ASU in the 70s. The kid was probably checking the school out prior to attending.

Was thinking about the same thing.
Murder involves malicious intent.
