The former home of the late Michael Nesmith, a member of the iconic made-for-TV band, The Monkees, is up for grabs.

Nesmith, who died in 2021, lived in this three-bedroom, 3.5-bath home in Carmel Valley, CA, about 20 minutes from the coast. The house is listed for $3.5 million.

The ranch-style pad is spread over 3,365 square feet, all tucked into a gated community called Sleepy Hollow.

The dwelling sits on more than 6 acres, surrounded by majestic oaks and stunning vistas.

The living room features a vaulted, beamed ceiling with large windows and a brick fireplace. This main room includes a dining area with a lovely view of the pool and backyard. Smart storage is built in, offering space for dishes, linens, and to use as a sideboard.

Beautiful house in a beautiful part of the world (I got married there).

Interesting that the writer didn't even mention the fact that the funds to purchase this house probably came from Michael inheriting a fortune from his mother who invented this:

Nesmith was the one Monkee with talent.

Practically invented “Country Rock” before The Eagles.

On youTube check out Mike Nesmith’s “Television Parts.”

Genius. Look up “El Dorado to the Moon,” and Jimmy Buffett’s “Dance” video on his show.

Gentle, lovely and sheer genius

Fill your coffee cup first. Once you start. you’ll be awhile on this stuff.

Maybe instrumental talent. Mickey had one of the great pop music voices of the 60’s. His vocal rendition on “Going Down” is awesome and he did it in one take. On most early Monkees songs Mickey is the only one from the band you are actually listening to. The rest are all studio musicians.

WOW!

Whoever would have guessed, "Liquid Paper (from long ago)."

I can't imagine that being your marriage spot.

My wife and I had the most memorable vacation of our lives visiting Carmel over 40 years ago.

Maybe one of God's special spots in our universe :-).

Yep, his mother Bette sold the company to IBM for almost $50M in 1979! Half of that fortune went to Michael and the other half went to charities.

My wife and I love Carmel in general, Carmel by the Sea and Carmel Valley. Just so peaceful there.

I’d read about that, too. Mickey was the only Monkee who had money when the show was canceled. His parents were Hollywood actors but they made sure their children had a non-Hollywood, normal lifestyle which included being careful with the income. His “Circus Boy” days probably gave him a good start with his mom guiding him in investments.

Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. Although lots of songs were written by the band members, lots of their recorded songs were written by other very well known songwriters and/or song writing teams.
RIP.

I think they were all decent musicians, though not on par with the Wrecking Crew session musicians who played on their records. Supposedly, Mickey was the best guitarist when they formed the group.

Sitting on 6 acres, sounds like a decent deal. Somebody might tear the house down and put up something much larger, with quarters for live-in help.

A pretty area, but somewhat isolated. The isolation, rigid zoning laws and high initial housing cost is (still) keeping away most (but not all) of growing dysfunction that’s swamping the rest of California.

Wow, it’s gorgeous. But it appears all original except for the kitchen remodel and even there they chose low-end cabinets with routed panels. But they did choose top-end Wolf appliances and range hood.

We raised our family in a California rancher built ten years before this one in the Bay Area. It’s still a great layout and simple.

I’ve always loved Carmel Valley and thought it would be the ideal place to live or retire. My wife didn’t want to move there because friends say it is foggy all the time. Plus, the horrendously destructive, anti-white, ultra-high-tax, soft-on-crime California politics drove us out of the state.

Yes, he wrote a bunch of great songs, including "Different Drum," which was a big hit for Linda Ronstadt.

Peter Tork was actually pretty talented also. Check out his album Cambria Hotel.
