A woman in Texas who shot dead a 14-year-old boy that tried to break into the home she shares with her four daughters has said the incident left her 'devastated'.
Aleah Wallace saw Devin Baker attempting to open her eight-year-old girl's bedroom window in Fort Worth on December 14 and fatally shot him.
'I'm devastated that he was 14. I hate that. I literally do. And I'm so sorry. But at that point, I had to think about my babies,' she told Fox 4.
Police have not filed any charges against her over the shooting but the case has been sent to a grand jury.
Wallace said she got the gun to protect her family after suffering multiple break-ins which began just a few weeks ago.
'I was cleaning my living room sweeping my floor, and I heard my window start going back up,' the mother said.
'So I went, and I stood in the hallway. And I could see him standing at the window, lifting it up. I just shot.'
Baker died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds and Wallace added: 'It's bothering me that he was a kid.'
The case is going to a grand jury and she wants people to understand that she was just protecting her family.
'I have four daughters. It’s just me and my four daughters that stay there. I just was protecting my daughters,' she said.
'I'm devastated that he was 14. I hate that. I literally do. And I'm so sorry. But at that point, I had to think about my babies.

“Already trouble at 14. She prevented many rapes, burglaries, murders by the elimination of this guy and saved the state a lot of money.”
Right on. What difference if he was 14? That’s old enough to do a lot of harm, and who knows what he did already.
Devin Baker died of a fatal case of STUPIDITY! Her daughters are all safe, so that is what I’d call justice.
Does smokeless apply to legalized pot?
Little hooded, bespectacled Devin Baker CHOSE POORLY. Case closed, IMO.
Think of all the homes that will NOT BE BROKEN INTO in the next few months.
Natural law and the right of self defense are intrinsically intertwined. As far as governments are concerned, there appears to be two opposing views: 1.people have a right to be armed and defend themselves within reasonable limits; 2:only government has the right to protect and defend their citizens. The difference is pretty stark since the former provides for individual liberty, while the other is opposed to it.

Also no more off spring to follow in father’s foot steps.
I don't wish Devin Baker family anything wrong, but he needed to know criminal activities leads to jail or death.
“Does smokeless apply to legalized pot?”
Yes it does.
She stopped one from every doing it again. Wonder if the others weren’t out of sight and turned tail not wanting to end up like their fellow gang member. If so, they should all be shipped off to prison for murder.
I’d still think there are often month-to-month places to rent. A cruddy apt even in bigger cities shouldn’t cost too much. At most one usually needs security deposit and first month rent.
I thought it might be just like the woke govt to ban tobacco and allow pot!
For the none Texans. Every shooting with homicide goes before a grand jury whose job is to determine if the homicide was justified. Every single one every time in every county statewide. She is not being singled out at all. This is state law that every shooting must be reviewed by the grand jury in that jurisdiction. She will be fine looks completely justified under our castle doctrine law. If you own a firearm in Texas is behooves you to pay the $20 a month for something like legalshield to have council on retainer should you shoot someone you will 100% need it every time.
The "right of self-defense" exists only as long as government respects that right. The problems start when government does not honor "rights".
Rulers do not generally want a subject population that can even think about refusing their orders. That gets into dangerous conflict if the population looks at "self-defense" too intensely.
The natural law of self-defense is not subject to government laws of any kind. People will defend themselves against predators using whatever force they can muster to do so. It takes years of indoctrination to suppress the self-defense instinct, and that indoctrination doesn't really imprint for most people.
"Think of it as evolution in action". (Larry Niven). People who won't defend themselves against predators, or evade them, do not survive.
Laws made by government must be in accordance with those natural laws you mentioned, or things go badly.
I hope she shot through the open window, not through the glass.
