Jan. 26 (UPI) -- A dedicated Swiftie from Pakistan broke a Guinness World Record by correctly identifying 34 Taylor Swift songs from their lyrics in one minute.
Bilal Ilyas Jhandir, 20, had to listen to the lyrics being read aloud by a man without any accompanying music to identify each song.
The record attempt included Swift's 50 best-selling songs arranged in random order.
He managed to identify 34 songs in one minute, breaking the record of 27 set by Dan Simpson in 2019.
"I have been listening to Taylor Swift since my childhood. I am a die-hard fan of her," Jhandir told Guinness World Records. "I have listened to each and every song of hers. I can identify almost any song of hers from the lyrics."
Jhandir previously set records for the most animals identified from animal sounds in one minute (23)and the most Justin Bieber songs identified from their lyrics in one minute (29), but he said his latest title is the one that gives him the most pride.
Jhandir said his favorite Swift album is the "absolute masterpiece" Folklore.
"The thing I like the most about her is her way of writing out-of-this-world songs that always hit the bottom of my heart," he said. "The authenticity in her songwriting, the emotional depth in her lyrics, and her ability to connect with listeners on a personal level are all the things that I admire most about Taylor Swift."
I have no idea
there was one song that i would hear at work but can’t even remember that one..
I have to tell you, I’m pretty sick of all the current and former NFL players who seem to be partaking of some sort of celebrity status via ads. I thought the Oreo ads were ok back in the day, but they’ve unleashed a monster in the Mannings. I used to respect them. No longer. It’s such a crock.
Mahomes, Kelce, Swift, and the rest of them can KMA.
I can usually identify her songs when I hear them, and that’s when I start playing Lynyrd Skynyrd on my phone.
Just think of the job offers that are going to pour in!
That’s actually pretty impressive. I remember the days of Name That Tune, I was a kid towards the end of that show’s run. I always thought it was cool how people could recognize on just a couple of notes, and then of course the holy grail: ONE note. Then as an adult I’ll put random mixes on while I do the yard work and I’ll hear a certain PING come out of my pocket and yell “oooh Echos”. There’s probably a dozen bands I could get 20+ songs in a minute. The hard part for me is actually wanting to stop the song “you were doing great until Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” “yeah I love that song, put it back on.”
There’s a Guinness World Record category to identify Taylor Swift songs from their lyrics in one minute?
You learn something new every day. I better get cracking if I have any hope of breaking his record.
They’re partaking of dollas. The great American tradition.
I was a Swiftie long before it was popular. I used the SWIFT Banking System for our international transactions and settlements.
Maybe he’ll get invited to the Swifter Bowl to meet his idol!.................
The girls were better lookin', and the songs were better soundin' ...
I didn’t know they brought it back.
A dubious distinction to be sure.
Bringing back “Name That Tune” in the 2020s is a real challenge because no popular song has had a real tune since about 1972.
About the Show
Hosted by Tony Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Jane Krakowski, the beloved musical game show tests contestants' music knowledge as they battle it out in an assortment of challenging musical games for cash and prizes. Two players race against the clock to test their knowledge of songs performed by a live band with Grammy Award-winning producer Randy Jackson as band leader. Each contest features a rotating variety of games from the original format, before the iconic bid-a-note round. The player with the most money at the end of bid-a-note wins the game and takes his or her bank into the golden medley bonus round for a chance to win additional cash and the $100,000 grand prize.
.....The show is worth watching just for her!.............
I can name the oldies, but anything past 1990 or so all sound alike..............
Would only take 1 second to identify the melody of everyone of the pathetic songs churned out. All sound the same
She really ain’t all that.
I wonder if she has a concert date in Pakistan?................😉
