More Than 380,000 Refrigerators Are Being Recalled Nationwide—Here's What You Need to Know

(excerpt)

According the notice, Electrolux Group—the parent company of Frigidaire—is recalling about 383,240 of their side-by-side fridges with slim ice buckets. The reason? There is an ice bucket assembly component that can easily break and as a result, cause either a choking or laceration hazard through the pieces being dispensed out of the ice bucket.

(excerpt)

As the recall notes, the models included were manufactured between 2015 and 2019 and were sold at nationwide retailers such as Lowe's, Home Depot and more. Dates that the items in question were sold fall between November 2015 and September 2019 and between the price range of $1,400 and $2,400.

Thanks for that list. Check, check and check! Haven’t done any of those things.

Is it safe to assume that the Swedish parent company selling these refrigerators under a respected US trademark are having them manufactured in China?

it’d a Samsung- I like the bottom drawer freezer, large enough- but nothing else about it really- it’s ok i guess- but opening just one door is kinda narrow- so both need to be opened usually for larger items- We just have to adjust how we open the doors now- kind of a pain though

[[ The compressor had been warrantied for 7 years. At 7 years and 2 months, it died dead.]]

My dad told of workign for a fella who worked in the repair industry who stated way back when that companies were moving towards ‘planned obsolescence’, and factored in breakdowns because items lasted so long and ran so well back in the day that folks just wouldn’t buy new very often- My dad figured he was exaggerating, but the more time went bye, them ore it seemed to be true-

Toasters are real hit or miss these days- we’ve been through so many of them- microwaves too-

machines dying soon after warranty runs out is becoming pretty common these days- but then with other things they just keep going and going- never know- like our catalytic heater (looks like a small safe)- they are not rated vey high for longevity, but we’ve been using ours for many years now- over 15-

Dehumidifiers- ugggh- they are quite expensive now and don’t last long in our experience- would like to find an old one from before the ‘energy efficient’ models came out

My folks bought a chest style freezer from Frigidaire when they got married in 1957. They celebrated their 66th anniversary last September. They still have the freezer...

My neighbor gave me her ancient Coldspot chest freezer in 1986 when she replaced it with a new shiny model. We’re still using it. Although I don’t know for sure what year it was manufactured I suspect the early 50s.

I have one of those in my kitchen. Looks great, and holds a lot of small appliances. I even have a leg lamp on top. A smaller version of The Christmas Story, lamp.

4. Stay away from “American Home Shield” home warranties. They are crooks.

I had a Roper too. It was an excellent refrigerator. I had it for over 25 year and the only thing that ever went wrong was the door seal and that was my fault. I replaced it myself. I too sold it with a house. I wished I kept it.

Remember when light bulbs lasted forever. Our outside light fixture that is attached to the upper part of the second story of our house (just below the roof) hasn’t had its bulb changed in probably 30 years. When it goes out, it probably will not be changed. LOL! I restrict hubby’s ladder activities these days.

Struggled recently in choosing a new washing machine. After considering all the global warming democrat designed dreck, finally bit the bullet and bought a Speed Queen. Couldn’t be happier.😀
