i voted for bush in 2000. i will vote for bush in 2004. with the 10 dwarfs constantly bashing bush in the press, ted kennedy lying his butt off, and the liberal media chiming in at every opportunity. (polls, bias iraq news and so forth) and bush seemingly content to ride it out the same way his father did i simply don't see how he can win. someone please set me straight.

They bashed Ronald Reagan in '83. It was frightening. People said then he was gonna lose. Ergo, a year later he buried Mondull on the way to his political triumph ever. The Democrats are still searching for the anti-Bush. All they seem to come up with is the Flavor-Of-The-Month candidate. As it is they're so constantly negative and full of doom and gloom its a wonder any one is paying them any attention at all. The Texas Hombre is by no means finished.

I confess to a bit of anxiety myself. I keep telling myself that Bush is NOT stupid and he has his father's real-life experience on how a popular wartime leader can suddenly and totally fall from the charts -- but he is not doing any of the things that I would do to turn things around. Why? Or more appropriately, why not?

He has good help. He is not too proud to take advice. His cabinet is packed with brainpower...

I just don't know. I really want to believe that he is saving his ammo. I hope to hell that this is part of a carefully thought out strategy that is designed to avoid peaking too soon. I do indeed hope so because right now, it looks like that if Hillary jumps in, it will be a photo-finish and he might lose.

And, deep inside, I know that the Hildebeast WILL jump in. Ther promise to New ork may has well been written on water for all it is worth.

The uneasy feeling in my gut is not going away.

Its not time to panic. It just seems bad because of the democratic nomination race. We have 10 candidates and their congressional allies bashing Bush daily. Its a race and the press is covering it. Thats all.

This should make you feel better. The Dems have to fight it out amongst each other, all 10 of them. Dean, the leader of the bunch has raised about $25M. The others fall below that range. The DNC will scrape up $20M or so for the nominee. Bush meanwhile, is sitting on an $80M warchest and hasn't even begun campaigning. Estimates put him over $200M by next year.

This is the time to lay low. Don't do anything that might give them more ammunition - everyone will notice. I expect them to really turn on each other on Thursdays debate. Sure, they'll unamiously attack Bush, but ignore it. Why waste time, money and power now fighting 10 opponents now? Wait until there is one and overwhelm him.

I am concerned too, not just for Bush, for the entire country. The left has gone way beyond politics now and they are downright nasty and endangering our security. There is something going on here that I do not like at all, and will voice sooner or later. For now I will just say that I am worried also, and it doesn't help that the pubbies are not united either. That is really a concern of mine. There are those who would dictate to us what we have to believe to be considered a pure republican.

I'm disgusted with the Rats but not all that worried about Bush winning in 04. I think that people are turning off their tv sets, tuning out politics right now, prompted by the egregiously slanted news, obvious to anyone with an IQ of 13, and the 100% negative Rat campaigners. The public may not "approve" of Bush in answer to poll questions, but they'll vote for him because there's simply no one else to vote for. Hitlery is not a viable option at a time when national security, terrorism, etc are, if not at the forefront, at least in the back of everyone's mind.

Also, let's wait to see what Rove pulls out of the hat as the election gets closer. Saddam and bin Laden on matching marble slabs would be nice and could be accomplished. They may be on ice already.

I do wonder how Bush keeps going with wave after wave of negativity spewed at him from media and Rats. We need to hold him up in prayers as much as we did before the election.

What has been refreshing to hear on FoxNews today is the acknowlegment that the media hasn't presented a balanced picture in Iraq. And Fox has been giving the story air time consistently today,

Senator Mitchell is testifying somewhere on Capital Hill as to his observations in Iraq and the poor image the media is portraying. Another Fox correspondent, also just back has been very vocal about this. And now on Vesters Day Side, they are about to air a story about a human shield who now thinks he was completely wrong to protest the war and that what we did was right.

It may not last, it may not be happening on other cable networks (I don't even expect the alphabet soup channels to step up on this one), but it's a breath of fresh air for today at least on FOX.

On PBS's Nightly News Report a couple of days ago, they invited Richard Perle, an administration bigwig, and some dipstick woman from a "peace" organization to present their views on Iraq, where each had traveled in the last week.

Perl was so measured and sure of himself and the peace idiot was so rude and shrill, it was very clear who was telling the truth. The peace woman interrupted both the announcer and Perl, literally screeching about the horrid state of affairs in Baghdad, to the extent that the announcer and Perl finally had to pretend she wasn't there and carry on a conversation of their own looking pained, very pained.

There could be no better illustration of how crazed, off-the-wall, and illogical the leftists are than to let them screech as much as they want. I really believe that the American public is fed up with leftist liars and lies. We tune them out, tho the media gives them air time. Bring 'em on.

The guest on Vester was good. An Assyrian priest (for those that didn't see it) who initially felt he should go to the homeland and protect his "people". After he got there he was astounded at the Iraqi's who told him they wanted to be freed, wanted the US to get rid of Saddam etc.

He then told how basically normal life is on the street. Shops open, people having phone conversations without being listened in on for the first time in decades etc.

An audience member told him it was great he had discovered the truth about the Iraqi's and asked him how many of the other major news outlets had contacted him or were clamoring to put out his story. His answer: "The silence is deafening".

I think you are right, that most of Americans except the shrill ones realize the big picture and can determine who's credible and who isn't. I took the time to email my heartfelt thanks to every FOX show for their coverage today of the positive sides of what is going on in Iraq and for showing that it is OK to be proud of the good that America and the coalition have accomplished.

Like his father, Bush seems intent on selling out his domestic Republican base, only this time, the base is so glad he won the war, they aren't watching domestically to see him run the country to the left of Kennedy. Looking like a one-timer. Fortunately, in 1994, those wild-eyed conservatives he hates so intensely destroyed the spawning grounds for future Demonrat presidential candidates, so the only governor they could find was a guy from that Marxist village known as Vermont, so he might just win, anyway.

Will I vote for Bush? Yup, he's better than a Democrat.
Will I be happy about it? Nope.

His good help is strictly on the foreign-affairs side. His domestic staff is insanely stupid, or politically leftist.

Two tax cuts.
Relaxed enviromental restrictions.
Appointed conservative judges.
Killed Kyoto.
Killed the ABM treaty.
Pushing ahead with national missile defense.
Put Saddam and the Taliban out of power.
Crippled Al Qaeda.

Yeah, what a sellout.

You glass is half empty guys drive me crazy.

You are wrong. The election is 14 months away. The same time it took for us to blather in front of the UN before we put Saddam out of business.

>>Appointed conservative judges.

No, he *nominated* conservative judges, and then let them get massacred by the Democrats without defending them. Meanwhile, he re-nominated Clinton's judges who won easily.

>>Killed Kyoto.

Kyoto was defeated 95-0 by the Senate before Bush came into office.

>> Killed the ABM treaty.
>> Pushing ahead with national missile defense.
>> Put Saddam and the Taliban out of power.
>> Crippled Al Qaeda.

I believe I did say, "on domestic policy." These FOREIGN policy achievements are why I said he's better than a Demonrat.

>> Two tax cuts.

*Budget* cuts impress me. Tax cuts... well, it depends on what you're cutting. I'll give him some credit that he did cut taxes at all, but if you're going to cut taxes by that much, you should be able to do some tax justice.

Sorry, but 'pubbies' tax cuts don't please the masses when they act as if:

* investing your inheritance shouldn't be taxed, but busting your ass at work should be;
* they've gotten rid of the marriage penalty when they haven't touched the EIC discrepancy;
* Wining and dining clients at luxury box seats is a "necessary expense," but feeding your family is not.
* Social Security and Medicare aren't really taxes.

The democrats are beating us on the tax and budget issues. How the ***** did Bush let that happen? By passing tax cuts, but passing dumb ones.

Hey listen, I know that Gore wouldn't've cut taxes on anyone, and that the Democrats' alternate tax cuts were simply political posturing. But I'm talking *politics*, and Bush's tax politics were simple-minded.

O, and once again, I *will* vote for the guy; I'm not a 3rd-party, waste-your-vote guy. I'm only bemoaning Bush's poor political standing because I wish he would win, and I think he's harming his chances, and the chances of getting a workable majority in the Senate, by espousing liberal ideas.
