Rogers hires Communications Director

Former Fox News Channel correspondent Molly Falconer de Ramel joins campaign.

Providence, RI: Republican Congressional candidate Dave Rogers announced today that Molly Falconer de Ramel has joined his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. Molly, a former Fox News Channel correspondent and Magna Cum Laude graduate from Harvard University, will serve as Director of Communications.

Molly worked for the Fox News Channel from 1998-2003, serving as Anchor, General Assignment Reporter and National Financial Correspondent. Prior to reporting with the Fox News Channel, she was a prime time reporter at WCBS-TV Channel 2 in New York City. Fox News Channel reaches more than 88 million homes across the globe, and is the most watched cable news channel in the United States.

While at the Fox News Channel, Molly was honored by the Emmy committee for her Breaking News Coverage of 9/11. She has also earned the Associated Press awards for Best Continuing Coverage in 1998 and for Best Investigative and Enterprise Reporting in 1997.

“Molly will be a great addition to our team, and I am honored that she has decided to join my campaign,” Rogers said. “Today we have taken a great step forward to defeating Patrick Kennedy in November 2004.”

“It was time to step out of the spotlight myself, and do the right thing. I am excited to join this incredible campaign. Dave Rogers is indisputably Rhode Island’s man in 2004.” Said de Ramel, “I hope my experience can contribute to getting this very experienced and hard working man elected. Dave Rogers will be a great Representative for the people of the 1st district of Rhode Island.”

Rogers, 37, a decorated combat veteran and former U.S. Navy SEAL, lives in Portsmouth with his wife Nancy and their two children Patrick, 9 and Scott, 7. Rogers won a three way primary and was the Republican nominee for RI-1 in 2002.

Beating Patrick Kennedy in this very Democratic district would be a huge upset. A liberal Republican held the seat until 1995, but the most Democratic district that currently has a Republican Congressman is probably Rob Simmons's district in Eastern CT, which only gave Bush 39.9% of the vote. Kennedy's Rhode Island CD is so Democratic that Bush was held to just 31.2% of the vote. But you know what? Patches is such a fool that it may actually be possible to defeat him. I assume that pro-life conservative Republican Governor Carcieri carried the district in the 2002 election (he got 55% statewide and the Kennedy CD is only slightly more Democratic than the Langevin CD), so it is not impossible for a Republican to win in the district.

Great news for Rogers!

Since I moved into his district, this'll be the first time I can vote against Patches!

There's always one major upset every election.

Paddy Kennedy is due for one.

I hope this stays quiet. It's just fodder for braindead leftists to mindlessly parrot that a Fox employee has joined a Republican campaign. It means nothing (after all, they tell us repeatedly that the politics of reporters don't matter since they can check them at the door and it's the executives that make the call anyway) but will still be a leftist nutcase talking point.

I didn't realize she left FNC - just knew she had married sometime recently (within a year or so?).. figured she was off having a baby.
