A Russian arrives in New York City as a new immigrant to the United States. He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me into this country, giving me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and a free education!" The passerby says, "You are wrong, I am from Mexico."
The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for having such a beautiful country here in America."
The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."
The new arrival walks farther, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand, and says, "Thank you for wonderful America !" That person puts up his hand and says, "I am from Middle East. I am NOT American." He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an American?" She says, "No, I am from Africa."
Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the Americans?"
The lady checks her watch and says, "Probably at work."
Oops...meant to post this to Chat.
Well, I’m at work. Hard to concentrate.
Any true American is one who doesn’t have a hyphen.
cute...all too real....and it made the email circuit months ago...*grins*
Oh, I don’t know about that. Currently I’m an ANGRY-American.
It’s funny because it’s true!
Sorry. I must be out of touch. Everybody knows Conservatives don’t understand the Internet. :-)
Sadly it is all too true these days. My father came to the United States after WWII as a legal immigrant. The reason he came was to work. He punched a clock for 35 years, railroad and then the post office. Got his first new car at 53. His first home (multifamily) at 41 and his first single family home at 61. Sacrificed so that his children could get the education they needed to get ahead. That is all to uncommon these days...
At work or just catching up on our Freeping during lunch!
The difference between America and the Soviet Union is becoming indistinguishable thanks to 0bama
Getting ready to leave for a meeting...no lunch, just getting my fix.
So little good news these days...

Thanks for the memories.
I’m retired . . . .
Here in Lost Angeles you can’t walk down any street and find ten people who speak english.
I am a paraprofessional in the medical field. I would say 7 out of 10 patients need interpreters. FYI, the doctors are overwhelmingly foreign too.
What did Keith Richards say to Bono and The Edge when he bumped into them at the Grammys?
Not you two again!
While we walk in the shadows of these giants, yet many folks nowadays are content to wallow in mediocrity. I commend your father; he is/was more of an American patriot than many people nowaday, who were born on these shores.
