While 170 or more voters might have been fooled in the 2009 Values Voter Summit straw poll, it wasnt Mike Huckabee who came out on top in a recent Washington Post poll of the leader who best reflects GOP values.
From CNN:
According to the poll, 18 percent of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say the former Alaska governor best reflects core GOP values. In second place, 5 points back, is Sen. John McCain of Arizona, last years Republican presidential nominee, followed by former Arkansas governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee at 7 percent, former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney at 6 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 4 percent and conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh at 2 percent. Other current Republican leaders were picked by 1 percent or less of those questioned in the poll.
The #2 group that said John McCain must not have woke up since sometime in 1998. Or perhaps theyre delusional RINOs who think slightly less liberal than the average Democrat = GOP values.
And with only 2% for Rush Limbaugh, respondents must have been taking into consideration the high degree of unlikelihood that Limbaugh will ever run for president, because purely on ideology, it would be hard to find a better reflection of Republican values.
Palin also came out on top when respondents were asked who theyd back in 2012:
Palin also tops the list of potential 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls. According to the poll, 17 percent of Republican voters say theyd back last years GOP vice presidential nominee if their states caucus or primary were being held today, with Huckabee at 10 percent, Romney at 9 percent and McCain with 2 percent support. Huckabee, Palin and Romney have topped most national surveys of the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
I dont know whether Ill back Palin if she runs in 2012. I was a solid supporter until she resigned as governor of Alaska before her term ended. I understand the pressures and tremendous amount of time being wasted to fight off bogus charge by liberal haters, but I just cant overlook that she quit the race before it was done.
Regardless, itll be interesting to see what happens in 2012. I think genuine Republicans are done with limited primary engagement and with backing RINOs because the party establishment says they should.
Huckabee is a self proclaimed contented one with the "GIG" he has at FOX news. LOL!
It’s way too early for 2012, but you have to admit she is a very shrewd tactician. She is showing her ability to rally people, which will be necessary for 2010, proving many political iou’s. She can use them in 2012, or 2016. Respect!
Olberman and some slut attacked palin on his show tonight. She sure has them scared.
I dont care if she runs or not, but I sure enjoy the way she makes those liberals sweat.
