President Palin (w/weird predictions for 2012 & 2016)
Mom Logic ^ | December 1, 2009 | Calvin Lowery

There are allegations from many conservatives that Sarah Palin is not being treated fairly by the media.

No matter who you are or your political affiliation, you cannot deny the fact that Sarah Palin is electrifying. However, in her short time in the limelight, this up-and-coming Republican star has had more drama than the "Desperate Housewives" season finale (my wife makes me watch it).

The people of Alaska elected Sarah Palin as their governor after her humble beginnings. There is a lot to be said about being born in Idaho to a school secretary and science teacher. It can't get much more American than that.

As a father of two beautiful daughters, I think that Palin's presence on the political scene is inspiring. She defies the preconceived notion that as a woman you must choose between career and family. Do not get me wrong, I totally understand that this is much more difficult for a woman to achieve as opposed to a man. I have a wife and witness it every day.

Interestingly, I believe that Sarah Palin is an intelligent woman. So, why is she going around pissing people off? Let's look at the campaign of "Change," one of the most impressive campaigns in recent years. President Obama had many controversial issues in his past. But he presented a campaign about hope, and refused to include the controversial issues as his talking points unless forced to do so. So, why is Sarah Palin consistently discussing how unfair the media is and the double standard she has been subjected to? I am not claiming that her allegations are not credible, but with the limited time you have to address the public, why waste your time making these points?

As a law student myself, I can tell you that all law students participate in some form of legal argument. Throughout your preparation, you learn that your time before your audience is limited, and instead of simply relying on point-for-point retaliations, you should advance the discussion to effectively advocate your position. Therefore, Palin's time would be better utilized if she explained to people why she is something more than a reality star, like Heidi and Spencer on "The Hills."

The most compelling evidence that Palin's camp is steering her wrong is the immediate fallout between her camp and McCain's camp following the election. Realistically, Republicans never believed that McCain had a chance. But embarking upon a graceful campaign and uniting the party for the next four years was the goal. However, at the end of the campaign, Palin managed to even divide her party.

The American people are tired of the drama in Washington, D.C. (drama with Bristol's baby daddy, the photographer who released her photo to Newsweek, etc.). Palin's best option is to show the American people that she can engage in political debate without name-calling, mud-slinging, and polarizing the public. This polarization is different from the polarization currently present in Washington -- because the current game plan for Republicans is to just oppose anything suggested by Democrats/Obama (interesting, I wonder where Palin got it from?).

This is what it boils down to:

Round one will occur in 2012, which is when Obama will allow Joe Biden to resign and "spend more time with his family." Obama will then ask Hillary to become VP. The Obama ticket will then face a Republican ticket that will include Palin as VP. In my opinion, Clinton's reputation has strengthened since the Democratic primary. Clinton will crush Palin.

Round two will occur when Palin and Clinton face off as presidential candidates after Obama's second term. Here, if Palin is still explaining why America should not vote for Clinton, as opposed to discussing why America should vote for her, she will not stand a chance.

In conclusion, a piece of advice to Republicans, Palin fans, and Palin herself -- if Sarah Palin honestly wants to be in the White House, she needs to drop the drama and stick to the issues.

Leave the drama for prime time.

I agree that her complaining about the media is overdone. As to the rest of the article, I'm just scratching my head... Hillary?! Huh?!

Ditto. The issue of complaining about the media is exactly right -- she needs to move on, seem presidential, etc. If she starts complaining about sexism now (no matter how valid the complaints!) people left, center, and yes, right, will get tired of hearing it. That stinks, that's not fair, but that's politics.

The rest is odd. Obama isn't going to get Hillary to be his Veep, nor would Hillary want to. And Palin won't be second banana again either. She's either going to be the nominee or she won't be on the ticket.

the gretest weapon Obama had in 2008 was the MSM. They carried his water for him, they refused to report damaging stories on him, they did not unearth his past etc.

Now if you are going into a fight you try to either destroy your enemy’s weapons or at the very least neuter it.

this is why Palin is attacking the Media. She understands that the media will not give her, nor any gop candidate a fair hearing. Therefore she attacks it, shows their bias at every turn. Another year or two of this and not one supporter would believe anything the media says about her even if they had pictures of her with a gun, bloody clothes standing over a body.

It is a very smart and shrewed gambit on Palin’s part. The recent flap about her travel is a great example. The media does a hit piece she reponds that “once again” the media is out to attack her.

It is Reagans’ “there you go again” defense. she is playing chess while most of her enemies are playing checkers

“No matter who you are or your political affiliation, you cannot deny the fact that Sarah Palin is electrifying.”

I guess, if you include Levi Johnston.

Anybody who calls himself a man, and actually watches that mushy garbage, can't possibly have his head screed on right.
No surprise his entire article is so full such wacky rubbish.

Bush 43, though he had his own problems, never struck back against the media and pretty much ignored what they said about him (except maybe for some sarcastic remark at a correspondents dinner). If the media continually attacks, you can’t ignore it for it will drive public opinion. You have to give back, hopefully the way Reagan did with his patented “there you go again” comment and a smile.

agreed.

To me this is a there you go again rebuttal by palin tonight:

It’s really comical at this point! Despite all of the important events happening in the world today – the president’s speech tonight on the strategy in Afghanistan, the Senate debate over health care reform, the disturbing details of the “Climategate” scandal, the continuing challenges facing the world economy – the media is concerned about my travel and lodging arrangements on my book tour?! Does this sound familiar? It should. The media showed the same out-of-proportion obsession with my personal arrangements, clothes, and hairstyles last year instead of focusing on the crucial issues involving the election.

So what is this news “story”? That I fly on an airplane to complete some of the stops on my book tour when it’s impractical or physically impossible to reach the next event on time by bus. Some news outlets are behaving as if my travel was a secret that they didn’t know about – despite the fact that I’ve tweeted about my flights and at least one local newspaper reported on the arrival of my flight into Rochester, NY. What’s even funnier is that these same media outlets think it’s shocking that we stay in hotels. I guess they expected us to pitch a tent alongside the road. We love the great outdoors, but such an arrangement is hardly practical for a book tour. Using common sense, it was determined that traveling by plane between some stops would save time and energy and allow me to go to more events. Economically speaking for HarperCollins, it’s more efficient to travel by charter, and I am very grateful to the publisher for providing my family and me with this incredible opportunity to shake hands with as many Americans as possible on this book tour.

If you’re scratching your head wondering why my flight and hotel logistics warrant news coverage, join the club. They can, of course, report on whatever they like, but in my opinion CBS loses whatever professional integrity it still has when it links in its report to a website devoted to the bizarre conspiracy theory that I’m not the real mother of my son Trig.

I’m truly humbled by the response to my book tour by everyday Americans, and if traveling by plane means that I can meet more of these wonderful people, I’ll travel by plane (or bus or train or canoe or dog sled or whatever it takes). Please enjoy the photos below!

IT does amaze me that everyone constanly underestimates this woman. She is running circles around the media and the GOP and DNC at the moment. she has gained 6% in favorables in the last week. yet all three groups give her no credit. She sold 1,000,000 books in 2 weeks. Unprecedented. She has thousands of people lined up over night for a glimpse of her, a signiture, a handshake and a thank-you. And she gets no respect. her book tour is going almost flawlessly. Hitting all the right notes. th e pictures form those events should send anyone lining up against her a shot of fear down their spine.

Have Heidi and Spencer (whoever the heck they are), ever been governors of the biggest state in the US with solid achievements as governor?

The most compelling evidence that Palin’s camp is steering her wrong is the immediate fallout between her camp and McCain's camp following the election.”

The most compelling evidence that Sarah Palin knows exactly what she is doing was for her to take on the ankle biting , backbiting, nasty McCain campaign staff and smack them down.

However, at the end of the campaign, Palin managed to even divide her party. “

This fool is just plain nuts. Hey sucker, just go back to watching "Desperate Housewives" will ya?
