A new Gallup poll reveals that voters who identify as more conservative, do not have college degrees and who make less than $24,000 annually are more likely to support former Alaska governor Sarah Palin over Mitt Romney for president in 2012. Romney, on the other hand, has evidently fared better with voters who describe themselves as liberals to moderate, have received degrees of higher learning and who make at least $90,000 a year.
The split drives home the challenges facing any would-be GOP candidate: Catering to the partys base without completely alienating those on the fence, and appealing to voters across a wide spectrum without pitting disparate factions within the Republican party against one another.
Romney recently launched an exploratory committee and a dazzlingly fresh new logo in advance of a possible presidential run, but, so far, neither he nor Palin have definitely announced intent to run in 2012. Nor, for that matter, has Mike Huckabee, despite rumors that Fox News would prefer that Huckabee, who hosts his own show on the network, come to a decision sooner rather than later.
Why this (alleged) pressure to decide? Just take a look at the numbers:
When it comes to ideology, Gallup found that self-described conservatives favored ex-Arkansas governor Huckabee over Romney and Palin and found double-digit support among all income levels. Huckabee did the best among people earning $24,000 to $59,000 (22%).
I’m just waiting to vote for Gov. Sarah Palin to become our next President.
If she doesn’t run or if Romney wins against her, I will vote for a 3rd Party. I’m done with RINOs.

Gotcha. You’re absolutely right. The “pet social issues” are important, but will never improve until people’s hearts and minds are changed. The economy, defense, and border security are critical.
In no way did I mean my comment as a slap at you, LLS. It was my attempt at full disclosure of myself. I thought that your citation of IQ score was perfectly appropriate, given that polls such as this try to nudge those who *think of themselves as superior intellects* toward thinking that only dullards could support a Sarah Palin.
Give me effective, tenacious, loving, thoughtful and patriotic over a brilliant Commie apologist any time. Obama’s brain is clearly average, but there *are* very smart folks such as Bill Ayers who love Utopian society, but despise individuals! lol
WELL i perfer the bisness component that MIT brings...i think he’s seen the light universal healthcare wise and is ready to take office....
I'll bet.
Anyway, Mitt's a corporate raider, not a businessman. That's head and shoulders above Barack Obama, who couldn't run a lemonade stand, but that's not saying much.
Please... no offense was taken. I agree with you 100%. No problems here at all!
LLS
Sounds like the Reagan/Bush divide circa 1980.
When all is said and done and the candidates are selected....You better get your butt out there and vote for any living mildly conservative thing running against the Obamanation.... this country can’t survive four more years of socialism. Your choice is to get out and support the true conservative to win the primary for the opposition to TOTUS... or suffer the consequences and make damn sure Obama isn’t re-elected. There is no other choice.
Amazing...
