Michele protests: I’m no Palin clone (Claims "former Palin backers" now going for Bachmann)
The Boston Herald ^ | June 29, 2011 | Hillary Chabot

RAYMOND N.H. — New GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann charmed a backyard of Granite State voters yesterday with her trademark straight talk but bristled at comparisons to fellow Tea Party star Sarah Palin, telling the Herald she’s got a style all her own.

“We both have unique skill sets. I have great respect and admiration for Gov. Palin, I consider her a friend, but I have a unique skill set that I bring to the table,” said Bachmann, 55, after announcing her presidential campaign to New Hampshire voters yesterday morning.

Andy Schwargler, 45, of Orford, N.H., drove more than an hour to see Bachmann, saying he appreciates her down-to-earth style.

“I like the fact that she speaks her mind. I don’t get the feeling that everything coming out of her mouth is a political calculation,” he said.

Granite State political observers said in yesterday’s Herald that former Palin backers are warming up to the Minnesota congresswoman, a claim that Bachmann supported during a wide-ranging interview with the Herald.

“We’ve made multiple trips here to New Hampshire and the momentum is only growing and building and exploding — and people that we have talked to have called up and said they want to leave the candidate they thought they were going to support and support me,” Bachmann said.

Both Bachmann and Palin are anti-abortion Tea Party favorites known for their independent streaks and challenging business as usual in Washington, D.C. Both also have a blunt, tell-it-like-it-is speaking style that resonates with voters.

Bachmann said that while she’d like Palin’s endorsement, she won’t be reaching out to her.

“I would love to have Gov. Palin’s support in this effort. I don’t have her cell phone number so I don’t know how to get in touch with her, but I wish her well,” Bachmann said. She added, “The field is wide open . . . people can come into the race, but I also know that people have resonated with my message.”

Bachmann dismissed claims that her high-profile gaffes have undercut her campaign’s credibility. She said Monday that movie legend John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa, when it was actually serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

“Those are the small issues that quite honestly no one cares about, because everywhere I go people are concerned about the economy,” Bachmann said.

Exhibiting her feisty no-nonsense style, Bachmann told the amped-up New Hampshire crowd that she’d run the White House with a “titanium spine” while touting her economic know-how and her ability to load a shotgun and speak on the fly.

“President Bachmann will be banning the teleprompter from the White House,” she said in a dig at President Obama. “The American people have had enough. They’ve had it up to here. . . . President Obama, you are a one-term president.”

For her Congress re-election fund raising effort , she was able to make calls to Palin. If she can’t find Palin number, what else she can’t do?

Did you read the whole article?

She claims that Palin supporters are "warming to her" and that people are leaving the candidates that they once favored and rushing to her. LOL

She claims that "..................people have resonated with my message.", which is not just a misuse/improper use of the word "resonates", but lousy English. And this from the woman who a bit later in the article claims that she will ban teleprompters from the White House and that she can talk well without one.

No,she isn't a Palin clone at all, she's a 10th rate Palin wannabe.

We don’t elect House members to the White House. Now I’m seeing the “why” of it, if you catch my drift?

People might have resonated with her message, but her message has not resonated with the people, neither Democrats nor Republicans. I know it’s a trivial slip of the tongue and that I shouldn’t be churlish. But either she or Rollins is orchestrating this badly. Brices wrote once speculating that Bachmann might be Palin’s Phil Crane. I hope not, but the evidence points ever more in that direction.

I know, I know, but this one is making things worse, not just week by week, day by day, but almost hour by hour. She’s a nasty passive-aggressive piece of work.

She really does have a big ego doesn’t she..thinking that everyone is “Warming up to her” I have no ill will for Michele Bachmann. I don’t think she is a bad person, heck I wanted her to be Sarah’s running mate, I thought it would be the perfect team Palin/Bachmann, but after some things have happened(Such as Michele not coming to Sarah’s defense when she was accused of murder) if she is her friend she would have defended her, of course we don’t know what went on behind the scenes but still

She said Monday that movie legend John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa, when it was actually serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

Actually, the truth is this: She said that movie legend John Wayne was from Waterloo, when it was actually his PARENTS.

Yes, John Wayne Gacy was from Waterloo. Why do you think that is? Maybe because he was named after a famous person who had ties to Waterloo?

Of course, the title is misleading as well, suggesting she was trying to say she was better than Palin, when she was saying they were two different people.

The evidence is that Michele wants to be president, has as big an ego as Obama, and is about as prepared to be president as little Barry was.........perhaps less so.

Well, she used to poll at under 5%, and how she’s polling in double-digits. Those new supporters are coming from somewhere.

We can tell that she is actually being considered a serious candidate, by watching how many freepers are coming after her. Got to keep the field clear, after all.

This is how we’ll end up stuck with Romney; conservatives taking pot shots at other conservatives trying to beat them down to leave room for their preferred candidate. That’s how we got McCain last time.

No, sorry, she is not less prepared than Bambam to be president. She was never a community organizer, has no shady roots or an absurdly thin resume. Besides that, I agree with everything you said.

I didn't hear her say movie legend or parents, are you sure you are quoting her?

The past couple of days with her have just been creepy. I am beginning to see why even with her state legislative history and JD she hasn't landed leadership or key committee positions.

That’s how we got McCain last time.

You mean that is why Romney didn't get elected, or did you mean Huckabee?

Loose lips sink ships...and with that in mind I feel that Bachmans biggest liability could very well be the fact that she was a foster parent to so many teen girls. Not that she did anything wrong, but, rather that the MSM can project the teen angst of one foster girl and turn it into monthly rites of naked goat sacrifices.

Oh HORSEFEATHERS!

That's NOT how we got McLame last time and you know it.

And FR has always been a bastion of escalating fights during the presidential primary season, as you very well know.

She was being snarky, implying that she was getting Palin supporters.

I remember that I liked Katherine Harris a lot for a while, until on FR, I started learning much more about her.

I think you took what I said in a different way than it was meant, vis-a-vis Bachamnn and Obama being unprepared to be president.

I was alluding to the fact that neither of them has had any political executive experience.

And the less so remark is that we, as a nation have elected sitting Senators, but only Garfield, from the House and he had military experience as well and that election was a fluke.
