The skeletons in Rick Perry's closet

Texas governor Rick Perry looks, at the moment, like the man many Republicans have been waiting for. Perry has yet to enter the presidential race - he looks likely to do so in August - but he is already polling close to ostensible frontrunner Mitt Romney.

The buzz around Perry isn't just driven by the polling. It's grounded in the fact that Perry could potentially bridge the divide between the Tea Party conservatives and the party establishment. To borrow a phrase from Perry's predecessor in the Texas governor's office, who went on to bigger things: Perry could be a uniter, not a divider, that the GOP is desperate to find.

A troll is someone who stalks and harrasses on forums.

Humblegunner is a troll. You follow his lead.

Jim Robinson is the self-conflicted one in charge of it all.

"A troll is someone who stalks and harrasses on forums."

OK, now you want to define the terms after the fact. It's hardly stalking when the pimps spam the forum with excerpted hit bait. And you consider it harassment to point out rude, scummy behavior?

"Humblegunner is a troll."

"Great Freeper," sez I. "Troll" (ad hominem) sez you.

"You follow his lead."

Now you're getting really laughable. You have confused commonality of purpose with a leader/follower relationship. You have no idea what things Gunner and I agree and/or disagree on.

"Jim Robinson is the self-conflicted one in charge of it all."

JimRob has specifically said that he has not the time to make this issue this main priority and this statement by him is hardly what I'd call "self-conflicted."

Petards getting a big uncomfortable, eh?

“The people of Texas know Perry, and are not dumbasses with their heads stuck in the sand. Is he perfect? No. Is he conservative? Yes. Will he win the nomination if he jumps in? I’m betting yes. Will he beat Obama? He’ll pop him between the eyes, get him all wee-wee’d up, and then beat him like a red-headed stepchild. And he’ll do it with Palin’s support, the support of the GOP governors, and the already strong support he has from the Texas Tea Party.”

Well said.

“Oh the humanity that he supported Giuliani...
“Oh the humanity that he issued an EO regarding HPV...
“Oh the humanity that he put forward an idea (privatize highways).”

Definition of an APOLOGIST.

Yeah - that’s the one.

I have difficulty looking at a TV screen if his “face” is on it. It’s a similar revulsion and magnitude I feel when having to look at the occupant of the White Hut.

More than just dislike - I see something demonic there.

That or heavy coke use.

Your user name is actually ‘zot’?!?

Yes. I registered it here before "zot" took on its special meaning in FR. It was my lawful good magic user character name years ago when we played Dungeons and Dragons, and was based on the sound lightning makes in the BC comic strip.

here’s more on Gardasil:
We’ve got 15 years of history and research and are already seeing fewer abnormal paps in the groups that have been vaccinated. It is now recommended for boys and girls. It is ethically produced, using the same technology that we use to produce insulin.

The only reason we do PAP smears is to look for changes due to HPV. The. Only. Reason.

99.7% plus of all cancerous, or precancerous cervical findings are due to HPV. If you know a woman who has had “freezing” or laser therapy or surgery for cervical precancerous or cancerous changes, you know a woman who had cervical HPV.

Virgins who marry “promiscuous” boys contract HPV, too.

None of the deaths were confirmed to be due to the vaccine. In fact, the CDC, JAMA, and the very conservative(Bush-appointed and media-vilified for those conservative views) FDA panel that reviewed the VAERS in 2008 all confirm that there’s no causal relationship, only temporal. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaccines/hpv/gardasil.html

Remember your statistics classes. With 33 million doses, there are bound to be deaths that coincide with the timing of the vaccine use. The teen death rate from all causes is 62 per 100,000 across the US. http://datacenter.kidscount.org/data/acrossstates/Rankings.aspx?ind=25 Most of those are boys, but still: In 10 million girls, 30 deaths are not outside the rate for the age group. They are tragic, but consistent with life on this Earth.

More likely the girls who had severe reactions or death had other risk factors, due to the population presenting to clinics giving the vaccine: those who present with worries about STD’s, the newly sexually active and those entering college. The records show that many were given new scripts for birth control pills and other vaccines and meeds, according to the analyses in the medical literature. (Also, remember the silicon, SSRI, and the general vaccine scares that have been blown out of proportion through the years and later proven to be untrue.)

We are seeing cross-protection from other strains. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/199/7/919/F2.expansion.html (I don’t know why Cervarix has better numbers than Gardasil -— however, if you’ve ever seen a really large genital wart [google it], you’d be glad most in the US choose Gardasil.

Whether Gardasil works or not is not the point. The POINT is that a Governor should not bypass the State Legislature... and by Executive Order make a such a vaccine MANDATORY. Furthermore the Vaccine was to be given to minors WITHOUT the consent of the parent... Venereal warts and any downstream cancer they may cause are not in the same category of disease such as polio that causes paralysis and even death in the very near term. Plus the spread of disease like polio causes great societal harm in the short term.... Thus Perry’s actions were rightfully overturned by the Texas Legislature. Oh and then there is the unsavory situation of financial kickbacks destined to Perry for forcing the use of the vaccine by the hundreds of thousands of doses.

Why is it that the only place I can find any real number of Texans who dislike Rick is on the internet? Real Texans love Rick Perry.
