It’s official: Colorado is a battleground
The Durango Herald ^ | June 8, 2012 | Joe Hanel

Posted on 06/08/2012 11:31:42 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Editor’s note: This is the Herald’s weekly roundup of campaign news.

DENVER – Both presidential campaigns confirmed this week something that Colorado TV viewers already suspected: This is one of a handful of states that will determine who will be the next president.

The campaigns named their battlegrounds in messages to supporters this week, and Colorado was one of five states on both lists. The other four are Florida, Ohio, Iowa and Virginia.

In addition, President Barack Obama is targeting North Carolina, Wisconsin and New Hampshire, and presumed Republican candidate Mitt Romney is focused on Arizona and Nevada.

With 538 electoral votes at stake, strategists for the two campaigns are putting together maps that get them at least 270 votes – the magic number needed to win.

The lists make sense, said Geoffrey Skelley, an analyst for Sobato’s Crystal Ball, a national political newsletter from the University of Virginia.

“Winning Colorado is vital for Obama’s re-election hopes. If Romney is able to win Florida and Ohio, Obama really needs to hold onto states such as Colorado and Nevada in order to get to 270,” Skelley said. “You can expect both the Obama and Romney campaigns to pour a lot of money and resources into the Rocky Mountain state.”

Another poll this week – from Purple Strategies – showed Colorado up for grabs, with Obama leading 48 percent to 46 percent. That’s inside the 4 percentage point margin of error.

Romney wins money chase: Romney and the Republican National Committee outraised Obama in May for the first time in the campaign, hauling in $77 million to Obama’s $60 million. It was a monthly record for both campaigns.

Paul rallies troops: Texas congressman Ron Paul says he will have up to 500 supporters on the floor at the Republican National Convention in Florida this August – around 20 percent of the total.

“And while this total is not enough to win the nomination, it puts us in a tremendous position to grow our movement and shape the future of the GOP!” Paul said in an upbeat email to supporters Wednesday.

Although Paul never seriously threatened Romney in the primary, his backers have successfully won delegate spots at state conventions, including in Colorado. Three Southwest Colorado activists helped Paul dominate Colorado’s slate of delegates.

Countdown: 17 days until the primary election. 150 days until the November election.

Yes, I have been saying for many months that the election will not be close. One way or the other. I believe that we will see a wipe out for Obama. I also believe that many Democrats already know it. They will be avoiding him more and more the closer we get to the election.

Yeah the idea that Obama will be targeting NC is just silly.

That's the truth! He should just save the money he is spending on the new "it's not my fault" ad I just saw a few minutes ago. Fortunately, I was watching something on the DVR so I could fast-forward through it.

PA is conceding PA to the Dems. Still time for PA to come to its senses and follow Wisconsin though.

I don’t count on anybody voting like I intend to. For several
years now-—AC (After Clinton) I cannot vote for ANY Democrat.
As a group they talk as if they represent the average Citizen but their actions serve only to enslave and beguile a once free people. Many many Democrats may not be happy with Obama but they will Never overcome their bias and Loathing of the
Republicans— kinda like expecting a Muslim to embrace a Jew without setting of an explosive device in the doing. Colorado is so progressive our State govt. no longer represents citizens like myself.I count on them for Nothing Good at all.

Give a realistic assessment here Stony. What are the chances the GOP could carry CO in November? 50/50? Less than 50/50? Better than 50/50?

Many of the previous pro-Obama liberals are in disgust of him now here in CO. Hopefully they won’t be voting for him.

PA is a waste of time and money. If the state was winnable, Bush would had won it back in ‘04.

I would say less than 50-50 a lot less than 50-50 for anything except perhaps the Presidential— and If I read Colorado right Mesa County and perhaps one or two others may vote other than Obama —but Denver/Boulder and most of the State will vote for the Jacks and Jennies No matter what.

THIS JUST IN The Denver Post reports that Metropolitan State College's board of trustees voted 7-1 to give illegals favorable tuition rates to go into effect this fall. The rate is $3,358 per semester, higher than in-state students' $2,152, and lower than out-of-staters' $7,992.

The college-bound illegals must have meet three criteria: attended a Colorado high school for the past three years.• graduated from a Colorado high school or gotten a state GED. • provide proof th illegal is in good legal standing, other than their undocumented status, and that they plan to seek lawful status when eligible.

===========================================

The SEC, IRS and FBI wilkl want to know whether Colorado is using proceeds from tax-exempt education bonds to subsidize people who are law breakers.

THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM Coloradans who voted for referendums on tax-exemt education bonds were not advised on ballots that their tax burdens were to subsidize law-breakers.

=============================================

WRT their klegal status----did the parents of any of these illegal students use their social security numbers to establish multiple identities in order to ride the US gravy train?

ICE's "documents and benefits fraud task force" found a common practice among "impoverished" illegals is to buy several faked identities for several thousand dollars each----the illegal then votes and rides the US gravy train under several names. <><> Jose Madrigal---the Washington state rapist---had some 30 identities. And probably voted and collected US benefits under every single identity. <><> Another illegal used multiple identites to bilk UI systems ofn some $3.5 million.

US Dept of the Treasury Says Illegal Aliens Collecting Billions in Tax Credits According to the US Dept of Treasury’s Inspector General, more than $4.2 billion in additional child credits were paid out in 2010 to illegal immigrants. In 2005, the pay outs totaled $924 million. This program allows low income earners to claim a $1,000 per child credit. $20 billion EITC is estimated to have been paid out to these cunning "impoverished" illegals. Most of them are collecting over and over again-----using multiple identities-----falsifying official apps---claiming children they do not have and/or falsely stating kids are back in their homelands.

REFERENCE March 8, 2012 KENNER, La. -- Kenner police arrested illegal Marvin Baca who sold false W-2 forms to another illegal immigrant for $1,500. Baca sold fraudulent W-2 forms for $1,500 to other Hispanics here illegally.

Police said that on one of the forged W-2 forms had a SS no of a person living in Virginia. Police said illegal Hispanics purchase fictitious W-2 forms and file false tax returns with the government to receive EITC refunds. Baca was charged with one count of ID theft and two counts of forgery.

Looks like his plans to steal the election are crumbling.

When his numbers get lower and lower, the likelihood is that no one will believe he can win w/out his original plan to use massive voter fraud.

BACKSTORY Illegals getting reduced Metro College tuition must have met three criteria.... including proof that immigrant is in good legal standing.....(other than the fact that they violated our borders, sneaked into the US and are undermining US ntl security).

Sap-happy trustees never factored in all of the downsides when they decided to suckup to illegals. This action could be a huge problem for the college. I would not even be surprised if they lost their accreditation.

FBI TIPS PAGE https://tips.fbi.gov

The FBI and other L/E agencies should examine all documents submitted by the college WRT requests for federal/state grants and DOE budget requests. Possible crimes include govt fraud, forgery and docujent falsification. Grants usually go to schools that enrol students claiming "high-poverty homes."

In one notorious case----a school received a $6 million federal grant.....but the numbers used were falsified---and an entire class "just disappeared" after the school got the money.

Shoddy record-keeping, falsification of documents, and deliberately hiding relevant stats, shoddy oversight among school officials...... and other ploys----such as under-budgeting, stealing tax-paid equipment and outright theft of school money.

=====================================================

All of the school's bank accounts should be examined.

Under the Bank Secrecy Act, banks are required to establish, implement and maintain programs designed to detect and report suspicious activity indicative of money laundering and other financial crimes WRT to institutions receiving govt monies.

“The Bank Secrecy Act was enacted to protect the public from harm by identifying and detecting money laundering from criminal enterprises, terrorism, tax evasion or other unlawful activities,” the special agent in charge for IRS Criminal Investigation, explained.

NOTE WELL The "Bank Secrecy Act" was passed to protect the public from harm by identifying and detecting criminal enterprises, money laundering, tax evasion or other unlawful activities.

Under the Bank Secrecy Act, banks are required to establish, implement and maintain programs designed to detect and report suspicious activity that might be indicative of govt fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, and other financial crimes.

<><> Joint bank accounts might be used to facilitate the transfer of of govt funds. Govt monies may pay for personal and private expenses, credit cards, real estate subsidies and vehicle purchases.

<><> To cover their tracks, fake invoices might be created to show that grants from state and federal sources deposited into accounts as if they were being used for legitimate govt purposes.

The scheme might be advanced by issuing phony statements of payments from federal and state sources that actually covered the transfer of funds for personal uses.

=============================================

<><> L/E is directed to get ahold of: (1) copies of checks, (2) wire transfers, (3) account statements, (4) invoices, (5) bills, (6) delivery tickets, (7) correspondence including e-mail, contracts, loan agreements, and, (8) any other books or records. L/E should also explore (a) monies paid to brokers, sub-brokers, (b) family members, (c) mortgage brokers, (d) financial managers, and, (e) real estate agents, brokers, and developers.

<><> L/E should scrutinize bank accounts for suspicious activites: (A) large deposits, (B) funds transferred from one account into another, (C) frequent requests for withdrawals.

<><> Bank records might also show diversions to secret LLC other accounts, to operate personal businesses. Govt fraud can also be facilitated by withdrawals, gift cards purchases, credit card purchases and intrabank transfers from govt accounts into personal accounts.

<><> A huge tipoff is whether bank withdrawals support luxurious lifestyle including payments for real estate, investment and stock holdings, jewelry, luxury vehicles, resort travel and gifts from luxury outlets for wives and mistresses.

The Bank Secrecy Act be used to nail school fraud.
