Romney: I'm not giving up on Pennsylvania
CBS News ^ | September 28, 2012 | Sarah Huisenga

WAYNE, Pa. With 39 days until the election, Mitt Romney on Friday spent precious time campaigning in Pennsylvania, a state he hadn't visited in more than two months and where polls show him trailing President Obama by an average of 8 percentage points.

Brushing aside the numbers, the Republican nominee told a crowd of several hundred people at the Valley Forge Military Academy & College that Obama is taking the state for granted.

"I've got a little secret here and that is that the Obama campaign thinks Pennsylvania is in their pocket -- they don't need to worry about it." Romney said to a chorus of boos. "And you're right and they're wrong; we're going to win Pennsylvania."

It was the third day in a row that Romney has campaigned with members of the military. He kept his focus largely on matters of importance to the defense community, hitting the president for referring to the recent unrest in the Middle East as a "bump in the road" and telling the audience that proposed defense cuts in the sequestration bill could have a large impact in their state.

"Someone has calculated how many jobs will be lost in Pennsylvania if those trillion dollars in cuts go through," Romney said. "It's 39,000 jobs. We can't afford that."

Romney told the group he would not cut the military's budget and would instead increase the amount of troops, Navy ships, and aircraft...

The polls again! I wonder why the pollsters are using the 2008 model rather than the 2010 model. I don’t buy the BS about 2010 not being a Presidential election. The suffering middle class who started to turn the tide away from socialism have not gotten any happier with BO’s economy.

I think we have a good chance in Pennsylvania. It’s all about turnout...

There is one set of numbers that the commie toadies in Barry’s state controlled “media” cannot manipulate for their “messiah” no matter how badly they want to. The national debt. They’ll just have to lie about that and hope that the morons living in this country never figure out what the hell the national debt is and what it means for the futures of their children and their children’s children. But hey! Free Barryphones! Nothing else matters when it comes to America! Ask not what you can do for your country, ask, “What’s in it for me?” Me! Me! Me!

Did Obama get the courts to overturn the PA election ID law? That’s the difference. No Republican can win without voter ID in PA and no Democrat can win with it.

In 2000, 120% of the eligible voters in Philadelphia cast votes, over 100% of them for Al Gore. Pittsburgh is almost as bad. Elections in PA are just like Venezuela, or Saddam’s Iraq.

Did Obama get the courts to overturn the PA election ID law?

State Supreme Court sent the case back to the trial judge with instructions that are practically an order to overturn himself. He says he is not going to rule "immediately" (meaning he's gonna wait till 48 hrs. before the election and then get the heck out of Dodge). Communist County Executive in Pittsburgh is creating HIS OWN VOTER ID CARDS to stir the pot just in case.

Wish someone had a spreadsheet on PA absentees like we have for OH, although I understand the difficulty of accounting for the Philly turnout.

The judge may strike part of it so that someone who doesn't have a valid ID at the polls can cast a provisional ballot that will still count without getting one.

He has until next Tuesday to make his decision.

If the polls are right, why do I see more Romney signs than Zero signs in Pittsburgh?

You are right. You can not discount the mid terms. In the last 10-12 years, the party which has won the mid terms, went on to win the presidency... It was a common statistic in 2008, now suddenly never mentioned in 2012. Odd, huh!

1998 Mid Term - GOP

2000 President - GOP

2002 Mid Term - GOP

2004 President - GOP

2006 Mid Term - Dem

2008 President - Dem

2010 Mid Term - GOP

2012 President - ?? (GOP)

Fitzgerald needs to be put in cement shoes and dropped in the Monongahela off the Liberty Bridge.

I wish PA could just give Philly to Jersey.

THEY deserve it.

Tell me how Romney loses when the GOP party id is at its highest level in history. Higher than in 2004 and 2010.

According to Rasmussen:

Right now: R+4.2

Oct 2010: D+2.9 (GOP wins 63 seats House, 7 seats Senate)

Oct 2008: D+7.1 (Obama/Dems win President, House, Senate)

Oct 2006: D+6.2 (Dems win House & Senate)

Oct 2004: D+1.5 (Bush/GOP win all)

based on these stats, it’s clear Dems need it to be D+5 or so. Anything under 3 and we win... and maybe big.

I understand the supreme court specified that the lower court had to issue a ruling on or before Oct 2.

Unlike the CBS story, this Mainline Media story reports the crowd of "at least a thousand" and enthusiasm was high! Photobucket Photobucket http://www.mainlinemedianews.com/articles/2012/09/28/main_line_times/news/doc5065ed9a3b31d410200231.txt
