Obama loses 2014 wedge issue in Senate gun vote
The Daily Caller ^ | April 17, 2013 | Neil Munro, White House Correspondent

The Senate’s effective rejection of President Barack Obama’s post-Newtown gun control bill robs the Democratic Party of an important tool for trying to regain a majority in the House in November 2014.

“Are they serious?” a visibly angry Obama demanded of opponents of the Toomey/Manchin Senate bill. In a late-afternoon announcement outside the White House, the president added that if Congress continues not to pass a gun control bill, “the answer will have to come from the voters.”

But without a Senate bill, there’s little chance that vulnerable GOP House members in suburban swing-districts will face the unpleasant choice of either recording a public vote against what Obama repeatedly describes as “common-sense measures to reduce gun violence and save lives” or voting against gun rights supported by the National Rifle Association and many Americans.

The wedge issue was highlighted this morning by Obama’s 2012 strategic advisor, David Axelrod.

“A bunch of suburban, swing district Republicans in House are probably deeply relieved that Senate appears poised to kill background checks,” Axelrod said in a morning tweet.

“Interested to see if [Mayor Mike] Bloomberg and others who’ve worked hard on this issue remain active in 2014 elections, holding no votes accountable,” Axelrod added at 9.43 a.m. EST.....

...“the answer will have to come from the voters.”

Well, all righty then. It's going to.

This is the first sign that Obama has lost his Mojo! He is heading for a crushing defeat in 2014. The Democrats are heading for a disaster in the mid-term election. They will lose. The Senate, governorships, state houses, lose more seats in the House. Obama will gut the Party the way Jimmy Carter did. People(save for the few fanatic followers) have lost interest in the “historic” black President. The Ricin dude —a leftist Democrat is a good example. He over played his hand and showed his incompetence. Hillary was wise to leave the ship before it started taking on water. Watch the scandals start to come out—by summer —Obama will be a stale joke (he already is to the right) In time Piers Morgan will be better thought of than the President.

The 2nd Amendment is a “wedge issue”? How can the Constitution be a wedge issue? Am I still living in America?

This is the first sign that Obama has lost his Mojo!

Actually, his loss on the sequester was a big sign. And that was after him barnstorming the country with major demogoguery.

Then last week he produced a budget with NO support from either left or right.

Obama's political capital is fast slipping through his fingers.

Hillary was wise to leave the ship before it started taking on water.

There's a good chance Hillary won't be exempt from any coming storms.

Benghazi whistleblowers are talking.

Holder’s law firm was not based in Chicago, but rather was Covington & Burling, which was once the largest firm in DC (now they are #2 behind Hogan Lovells). Covington has the entire building at 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. You could call it a liberal cesspool, but that would be unfair to cesspools.

The enemy, as described by Obama, is the "gun lobby".

That's funny, I've never seen Gun Lobby on any ballot before. If Obama is going to "freeze and personalize the enemy" as dictated by his Alinski mantra, isn't he going to have to find an enemy that someone recognizes?

I wanted this Bill to be defeated because it would be completly ineffective in stopping a repeat of Aurora or Newtown. But it begs the question, is there any practical way of stopping a person from committing such an act without infringing on the rights of lawful gun owners? I have thought this over and over and I really can’t come up with any satisfactory answer. Perhaps it comes down to one of two solutions. Either take everyone’s gun away (not very likely to happen) have guns everywhere. Allow lawful gun owners to carry their guns everywhere. So long as we have areas, such as schools, where no guns are allowed, then that is where a person bent on taking as many lives as they can are going to go. I would like to see as many gun free zones as possible, removed.
