After insurance policy cancellations and the botched launch of healthcare.gov, the political fallout from the rollout of Obamacare seems to be having an impact for Democrats in general and Obama, according to recent polling conducted by CNN and ORC International.
From a CNN post this morning entitled CNN/ORC poll: Democrats lose 2014 edge following Obamacare uproar:
"What a difference a month makes.
A new CNN/ORC International poll indicates a dramatic turnaround in the battle for control of Congress in next years midterm elections.
Democrats a month ago held a 50%-42% advantage among registered voters in a generic ballot, which asked respondents to choose between a Democrat or Republican in their congressional district without identifying the candidates.
That result came after congressional Republicans appeared to overplay their hand in the bitter fight over the federal government shutdown and the debt ceiling.
But the Democratic lead has disappeared. A new CNN/ORC poll indicates the GOP now holds a 49%-47% edge."
This follows highlights released from the survey early Monday morning that revealed the Presidents marks as manager have taken a hit:
Only four out of 10 Americans believe President Barack Obama can manage the federal government effectively, according to a new national poll.
And a CNN/ORC International survey released Monday morning also indicates that 53% of Americans now believe that Obama is not honest and trustworthy, the first time that a clear majority in CNN polling has felt that way.
According to the survey, conducted last Monday through Wednesday, 40% say the President can manage the government effectively. That 40% figure is down 12 percentage points from June and is the worst score Obama received among the nine personal characteristics tested in the new poll.
A lot of attention has focused on the Presidents numbers on honesty in new polling the past three weeks, but it looks like the recent controversy over Obamacare has had a bigger impact on his status as an effective manager of the government, and that may be what is really driving the drop in Obamas approval rating this fall, CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said.
Of course, polls change all the time and the 2014 elections are still a long way away. A lot can change between now and then. CNN also reminds us of the 2010 midterm elections and what preceded.
There is just under a year to go before any votes are actually cast and the generic ballot question is not necessarily a good predictor of the actual outcome of 435 separate elections, [CNN Polling Director Keating] Holland cautions.
A year before the 2010 midterms, for example, the Democrats held a six-point lead on the generic ballot but the GOP wound up regaining control of the House in that election cycle, thanks to an historic 63-seat pickup, he said.

They know it.
Their plan was always to institute the rule to end the filibuster and make it 51 votes, and with control of the House, they would have had total power, as they did in the 1st two years of the Obama administration.
They have 11 months to turn it around and a willing GOPe to let them.
Good lord, what does a Democrat run on in the mid-terms? “Well, heck by gum, we got that whole Obamacare thing done!”? ... What else is there for them? Other than just passing a complete DISASTER of a health care plan, they’ve been complete slackers.
democRATs are not worried, They seldom if ever win elections. They steal them.
Democrats in 2016:
Obama.
or
Obama with boobs (Hillary).
They know it, but they also know that the American voters have short term memory loss. Nov 2014 will come and go, and all these RATS will remain in power.
Greenfield at his best!
Obama is the tomorrow that never came. He is the sinking of the oceans, the fouling of the air, the hatred between races, the theft of health and wealth and wisdom. Obama is the promises of con artists sold to the gullible with money stolen from those who knew he was a coward and a fool from the beginning.
Now Obama has run into the end of his own political lifecycle. The billionaires who invested in him, no longer need him. The Democratic Party needs to convince voters that Hillary will fix his messes. And he stupidly made the mistake of actually trying to implement one of his ideas in a way that will directly affect people. Obama is no longer Google. Now hes been reduced to being a Yahoo.
If youre pretending to be a genius, the one thing you cant do is screw up. You can smash all the plates while screaming obscenities. You can deliver tedious lectures on 18th century writers that no one but you has ever heard of. You can loudly declare that Einstein was wrong. And you can waste billions buying incompatible companies in pursuit of some vague vision about the future. Until the whole thing fails and the investors realize youre not a genius and start demanding you bring in a professional CEO to secure the value of the company, even as they start thinking about carving it up.
Obamas real crime was to make it obvious that he isnt a genius. Just a guy in flipflops and a hoodie. Not an eccentric genius who wears a hoodie and flipflops because hes an original thinker, but a guy who wears them because kids half his age wear them and hes too lazy and deluded to grow up.
Investors will give their CEO geniuses a lot of rope as long as they think theres a trillion dollars on the other end. They will engage in complex rationalizations to explain why theyre throwing money at a guy whose ideas never seem to pan out and whose one big idea is approaching its sell-by date. And then the moment comes, a perspective shift hits and the genius is the guy who burned through billions of their dollars and is still promising them Pi in the sky while the future has moved on.
Obama is no longer the future. He cant be. Not on his second term. The smart money is no longer on books explaining why he succeeds, but books explaining what went wrong. The old genius has to make way for the next genius who will make the same exact mistakes, but offer a little more variety.
The game could have gone on a little longer, if only Obama hadnt made the mistake of actually assuming that he could deliver, if he hadnt been so taken by the applause of the crowd and the outcome of the rigged matches, that he actually tried to wrestle one of the slabs of muscle for real.
