Hillary Clinton to make climate ‘top of agenda’ for White House run

Presidential bid could be first in US history to make global warming key election issue, highlighting differences with Republicans.

John Podesta, who recently quit his job as advisor to President Barack Obama, tweeted this would be “top of the agenda” for Clinton as she prepares her run for the White House.

Top of the agenda. #Hillary2016

A Washington veteran who was also advisor to Bill Clinton, Podesta is widely credited as the brains behind Obama’s climate change plan, published in 2013.In a speech last December Hillary Clinton said Obama’s carbon cutting policies “must be protected at all costs”, labelling them “unprecedented” and calling for politicians to “act decisively… to head off catastrophic consequences.”

According to local media, a focus on climate change would make this the first presidential campaign ever to touch on the issue, which has split lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

The two Republicans to have announced plans to run, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, are both firmly in the climate sceptic camp and have said they believe the links between greenhouse gas emissions and global warming are unclear.

Other potential candidates like Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush have also steered clear of branding climate a foreign policy priority, while leading GOP senator Mitch McConnell has called on states to ignore Obama’s carbon cutting plans.

In her book ‘Hard Choices’, published last year, Clinton argued that promoting economic growth over the environment was a “false choice.”

She became aware of the impacts of rising temperatures on US ecosystems after a visit to Alaska in 2005 she said, where she saw dying trees and forest fires.

“Virtually everyone I spoke to on that trip had a personal wake-up call about what was happening,” she wrote.

“A tribal elder recounted how he had returned to a lake where he had fished as a boy only to find it dried up. I met lifelong participants in dogsled races who told me they no longer even needed to wear gloves.”

2009 pain

As US secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, Clinton also oversaw Washington’s strategy at UN climate talks, and experienced at first hand the tortured nature of international emissions negotiations.

In a detailed account of the closing hours of the ill-fated Copenhagen UN climate summit in 2009, Clinton’s book chronicled how she and the president stalked the corridors of the conference centre hunting down the Chinese leader, who they suspected of organising a secret meeting.

“Off we went, charging up a flight of stairs and encountering surprised Chinese officials, who tried to divert us by sending us in the opposite direction. We were undeterred,” she wrote.

“The Chinese guards put their arms up against the door again, but I ducked under and made it through.

“In a makeshift conference room whose glass walls had been covered by drapes for privacy against prying eyes, we found Wen wedged around a long table with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and South African President Jacob Zuma.

“Jaws dropped when they saw us. ‘Are you ready?’ said President Obama, flashing a big grin. Now the real negotiations could begin. It was a moment that was at least a year in the making.”

This is good news.

Man Caused Climate Change is a losing proposition.

Climate Change.

Yeah, it happens every year - from summer to winter and then back to summer and back to winter.

People who unduly concern themselves with the changing of the seasons have Seasonal Disorder.

This should be just like the abortion issue for Republicans.

The Democrats claim that they are for middle class working folks when everything they want to do to “stop global warming” will directly hurt the middle class. They want to limit the supply of energy (so that we produce less CO2), impose a carbon tax, force a large percentage of power from utilities to be from solar and wind, etc. etc.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Is this a bot? I think so. Never responds. Always posts exactly the same post. Over and over and over. I cringe whenever i see abclilly’s one and only diatribe. Stupid and repetitive in the extreme. No substance, nothing deeper than the sun is bigger than the earth. Again and again and again on every global warming story. yeah we get it. Try linking lord Monkton or James Watts or the endless admissions by the UN that this is a wealth distribution scheme. We get it, global warming is driven by the sun. Everyone knows. Quit printing the same ridiculous kindergarten mantra over and over and over.
Honestly? I dread reading a global warming post on FreeRepublic for no other reason than to have to see abclilly’s botpost that enlightens everyone about the sun. Not only is it wrong in a number of ways, it is so irritating to read the same unhelpful shit over and over and over.
Abclilly add something new or stfu already...

A giant umbrella made out of the pages of the healthcare bill and the IRS code.

Exactly. This type of agenda will result in the loss of even more of the good paying jobs that the “middle class” have depended on. Just great.

Hillary Clinton to make climate ‘top of agenda’ for White House run

So, by extrapolation, (1) Hillary is declaring war on the economy of every coal-producing state, and (2) Hillary is in favor of higher electricity costs for everyone.

Good luck selling that to the country, Hillary. Higher cost of living as a theme - your campaign is dying, babe.

In the public's priorities, global warming is dead last. But for the gentry class to get rich on solar panels, it will be first for them.

So hero Hillary ducks past armed Chinese guards to expose a secret cabal meeting in private trying to avoid her, with the President of the United States trailing behind?

This wouldn't even sell at Marvel Comics.

She's batsh*t. She really is.

Seemed to work successfully for Baraq Obama.
Why would she want to change the game plan?
