As I pointed out during the campaign, but was shouted down here, Trump ( who I ended up voted for) spent much of his life as a Dem, and was basically a New York progressive. So....let’s not be shocked when he reaches out, especially in light of the incompetence of the Rep “leadership” in Congress.
Reagan made a deal for Amnesty in return for border security....aaaand we saw how that turned out.

There was nothing in 2016 we could have done to change things. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are both serial liars and downright awful people.

I don’t think I’m being overly pessimistic. I’m an optimist as much as I am a realist, but we need to be clear-eyed about the extent of the problem.
I’m also not blaming the president, per se. Our government was built to prevent 1 individual from making sweeping changes. In this case, that safety mechanism is protecting the corrupt entrenched political class.
It’s not just a matter of undoing Obama’s policies. Politics is downstream from culture, and our culture, to be blunt, has gone to shit. The American spirit still lives in many but not as many as before as a voting percentage. And, it’s not just a matter of immigrants and aliens ruining it - many of these America-haters have family roots going back generations.
The kind of people we have in government is an accurate reflection of the people. A plurality of voters still voted for Crooked Hillary. The Electoral College saved our bacon again for the second time in 16 years, but the margins are narrowing. A large college football stadium crowd spread over a handful of states is the difference between President Trump and Obama’s third term.
Never said I did. I just know we’re fighting a losing battle, but fighting for additional time is still a worthwhile fight.
Guys on death row know their lives are going to end with a needle in their arms, but whatever amount of time they can stall is a victory of sorts.

Well I sure hope so, but why give away DACA so cheaply? Tie DACA to something modest like say $4 billion for the wall.
Ha ha. That is exactly how I feel about Canada, and one reason I am so stoked coming to FR. The US has hope. Canada has none. Nothing to root for here in the great white North.
I also said it’s quite likely nothing better will come along. So, I’ll be here fighting them, kind of like my own mercenary.

I have been a RABID Trump supporter from the beginning, immigration was my number ONE issue living in CA. I see first hand how illegal immigration has changed and destroyed my state!!! Regan was our governor at one time and now both state houses AND governors have been RABID liberals and not to change any time soon!!! I see the dreamers getting a free pass BEFORE the wall AND the wall NEVER happening just as with Regan!!! I am becoming VERY DISAPPOINTED we have ALL been down this road before and it is very hard to go down the same EXACT road with blinders on!!!!

I’m confident that if he were here right now he’d be asking himself why he lost good friends to watch their children and grandchildren turn the country into a socialist shit show.
This is not the same country anymore. Not even close. When even Secretary Mattis needs to give the military a pep talk to focus on doing their jobs because the country is a dysfunctional shit show, you know things are bad.
