Billionaire former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz says he cant run for president as a Democrat because he doesnt like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs proposal to slap a 70-percent marginal tax rate on income above $10 million. Schultz revealed Sunday that hes seriously considering running for president as an independent.
In an interview with CNBC Monday night, he shed some light on why he feels he would not run as a Democrat: Because he could end up having to argue for massive taxes on the super-rich like himself. I respect the Democratic Party. I no longer feel affiliated because I don't know their views represent the majority of Americans. I don't think we want a 70 percent income tax in America, he said. Ocasio-Cortez's idea to tax earnings over $10 million at 70 percent has wide support, according to pollsa recent Hill-HarrisX survey found that 59 percent of voters back it. Schultz went on to say: The way Ive come to this decision is, I believe that if I ran as a Democrat, I would have to say things that I know in my heart I do not believe, and I would have to be disingenuous.
Well, she does some good after all!...................
I feel bad for him, because he is going to be able to peel off the suburban and blue-collar workers that the powers that be in the Democratic party want to leave disenfranchized. The Democratic shrill-shrieking stampede machine is going to destroy him. He’s going to find himself subjected to something like the Trump treatment. Who knows, that might be the only way the donor class wakes up.
Run Howard Run. At least he believes in Walls. A few years back he walled off a public park next to his house in Seattle to keep the little people out. At the time I lived in Seattle not far from the park it was a great swimming beach. The neighbors had a cow.
Did he think no one would notice? The city made him tear the fence down and make improvements to the park. The improvements and attention made the park more popular. It was pretty funny.
this guy is clearly a total putz if he seriously takes AOC’s far, far, far leftist nonsense seriously ... he also talks and sounds like a total putz ... basically he sounds like a leftist billionaire version of Evan McMullen ... still, the Dems act like they’re frightened to death of him, like he’s a turd in the Dem’s punchbowl, and Trump has a large group of die-hard supporters who will never jump ship, so he might be a good thing after all ...
His issue will be getting the news media (in particular, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox) to cover his speeches and give him air-time. If you line up his twenty position points....there’s only five points which might be appealing to a conservative voter....the rest will drive conservative voters away. I still believe that he’s angling for the Ross Perot effect, and thinks he can draw 10-percent of the Trump voters over. But at the same time....he might even draw a quarter of all Hillary-type voters over.
The one benefit he has....which Trump proved in 2016, you don’t need a massive amount of money to run an effective campaign. If he’s skipping the primaries and saving capital...adding some interesting character as his VP as a plus-up...and just aiming to take three states in the Electoral College....then I think he might have some luck.
So Schultz, in good marketing analysis, saw a hole in the products being offered and decided to package himself as a more traditional "center-left, big government friend of the worker" guy who lies about not really being communist. That could reassure some of those middle America voters and especially suburban white women who don't like Trump but don't want to give away all their money to the government either (they want everyone else to give away their money but keep their own and AOC wants it all).
So of course the dems must destroy him, scorched earth. Just a matter of time now.
How many states did Wa11ace win in 68?
He’ll be dismissed as a white male plutocrat by the propaganda mill and the commie long march through our society will continue.
There’s an enormous gap between the “mainstream” Democrats and POTUS Trump.
There’s enough room for 3 or 4 candidates.
And it will be filled.
And the Democrats will be devastated as a result. The anti-Trump vote could be split as many as 3 ways.
A Democrat and TWO independents with money...Schultz and Bloomberg. There may be more.
And that’s after the dog fight of a Democrat nomination.
Action - Reaction - Cycles
...and so it goes
YES this is what we need a twitter psychodrama war by the Dems
I’m starting to like this Schultz guy...
Most Dems cannot believe what they say, how can they.
Another closet rat
I saw him on CNN today and he is positioning himself like Ross Perot to take Republican votes, not demo_ratic votes.
He is a ‘wag the dog’ plant to make President Trump lose. They realize they only need to convince a few hundred thousand to not vote for Trump this time and the rats will win.
JoMa
Five states: 46 EC votes (Ala, Geo, Miss, La, Ark).
His 9.9 million votes were centered mostly all around southern states For example, his 487,000 votes in California helped to ensure the state win for Nixon. In Illinois? His 390,000 votes helped to give Nixon that state’s votes. With Missouri? His 206,000 votes helped to give Nixon that election.
Without Wallace in the situation...Humphrey comes awful close to winning via the EC.
And you have to remember this....Wallace ran the race on a shoe-string budget, no mass media coverage, no Facebook commentary, no Russian meddling, and limited advertising.
Also, he has a charisma problem - bigly. That is another thing the businessman Donald Trump brought to the Presidency.
LAZY excuse for a potential president! This coffee clown says he cant run as Dem because of something a new dem house rep proposes, isn’t even a fully endorsed part of Dem platform?
And worse he isn’t strong enough as a business leader to create his own reasons for running and steer the platform as Trump did! Trump showed leadership and was strong enough to create his own platform much of which was adopted by the Republican party as he ran for and became their nominee.
