Yes, We Can Drill Our Way out of This Mess by J.D. Longstreet You know what is frustrating? Having a problem and having the answer to that problem within reach but being prevented, by the government, from utilizing that answer to solve the problem. And it happens to be right where we Americans find ourselves today. We don't have enough oil. Well, actually we do have enough oil, only the government won't let us get at it. You see, we currently have a bunch of intellectual midgets in charge of the U.S. government and they are driving our country to...

It’s four years later and Bill Lee hasn’t missed a beat. Lee, who narrowly lost a run for governor in 2004 to Ruth Ann Minner, was in Georgetown Tuesday morning to kickoff his gubernatorial campaign. The prayer breakfast at the Georgetown Family Restaurant was the first of nine stops, across all three counties, and marked the beginning of what Lee hopes will be a different outcome this time around. “When I made the intelligent decision not to run, the convention challenged that decision,” Lee said at the Sussex GOP headquarters prior to the breakfast. “I’m grateful they did.” Although Lee...

In his 'A WORLD THAT STANDS AS ONE' speech, Obama (somewhat) addressed a variety of issues. In attempt to prove to the world that he is not a Republican or President Bush Obamessiah used the word "new" or "anew" sixteen times, in attempts to drive the point home. The speech was pretty bland for my taste. It was toast without the butter (or jelly for those of you who prefer toast with jelly to toast with butter). There were a few parts of his speech that managed to royally irritate me...aside from the standard 'America needs you foreign nations to...

Since President Bush announced an end to federal ban on offshore drilling, the price of oil has dropped over $20 a barrel, the stock market is ticking back up and the dollar has strengthened. And all this because, why? Well, because the markets can be almost totally assured that supply will increase with new drilling offshore. In other words, Republicans are/were right: More drilling = more oil = lower prices. Overseas stock markets were higher and Wall Street index futures pointed to a solid open as the cost of oil retreated further and traders turned a bit more hopeful about...

My reasons for leaving the Party that I’ve felt at home in since I became politically aware are numerous. I will start with quoting countless conservatives who feel as I do - I didn’t so much leave the Republican Party, it was the Party that left me. The elected Republican officials failed to implement a conservative agenda, despite having the Presidency and both houses of congress. No Child Left Behind, Prescription Drug Entitlements; they even tried to force Amnesty for illegal aliens upon us. They have given us a government that would make even LBJ blush. Our businesses and land...

Glenn has pretty well covered the imbroglio-inducing statement, but here’s a less-examined claim that really shows how separated from reality Klein has become: Obama, the poker player, has drawn to an inside straight: the Iraqis favor his plan over McCain’s long-term bases. Only the most intellectually dishonest reading of the situation could justify that statement; the WaPo has devoted an entire op-ed to debunking the ridiculous notion that Iraqis would rather see al-Ameriki withdraw on a fixed timetable from Washington without regard to conditions on the ground: But an Iraqi government statement made clear that Mr. Maliki’s timetable would extend...

It appears that Camp Noriega held a fundraiser in London at the "Texas Embassy" in support of his campaign last week. The "Embassy" is a Tex-Mex restaurant in Trafalgar Square. The fundraiser brought in a ::brace yourselves everyone, this one's a killer:: monumental "$400.00! Woo hoo!!! They sure gave him a Texas sized welcome. There was about 12 people attending the fundraiser...all of which were Americans living in London. 3 were Texan. Here is some commentary from Camp Cornyn on the fundraiser: "As he was hauling in $400, Rick Noriega told his London supporters that Texas is "not quite meeting...

Should John McCain choose Mitt Romney as his running mate? 83% - Yes. Romney appeals to conservatives and helps balance the ticket in other ways, too. 7% - No, McCain should consider someone less known to the nation, such as Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. 3% - No, McCain should choose someone who adds to McCain’s own foreign policy strengths, such as General David Petraeus. 6% - Not sure any of the above are the qualities McCain should focus on. Total Votes: 1,307 Quite an interesting perspective coming to us courtesy of the Boston Herald. Looks like Romney's business background, charm,...

John McCain appeared on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric to do an interview regarding the two Presidential candidates position on the status-quo in Iraq. Although it is no secret who Mrs. Couric favors, McCain did a great job at holding his own while not holding back on Obama's ever changing yet dangerous position on the War on Terror. Here are some of the highlights of the "discussion": Couric: Why do you think Prime Minister Maliki publicly supported and endorsed the concept of a timetable - a 16-month timetable? And isn’t that one of the main objectives of the...

Sunday's Washington Post ran a column by a woman named Sophia Nelson. The title of the column tells you everything you need to know about it: "Black. Female. Accomplished. Attacked." As little faith as I have in liberal newspapers such as The Washington Post, the fact that they would run this column is appalling. There are very real problems for America in having a first lady who has no problem calling America "downright mean" and saying she has never before been proud of America (youtube here--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WNGjawtP48&eurl=http://www.notwrightforamerica.com/--watch it for yourself and decide if her explanation is believable). Not WRIGHT for America...

I still think the GOP screwed themselves when they failed to take Fred Thompson seriously. The old cat never ceases to amaze me. A Google Alert popped these two stories from the Indian Blogosphere into my in-box this morning: Gandhian self-destruction from Indian Raksa - Defending Secular India, and Gandhi’s Way Isn’t the American Way: Collective suicide is no foreign policy from Islamic Terrorism in India. Both of these posts are based on this March 15, 2007 National Review Online transcript of a Fred Thompson radio spot. Listen to Fred right here. (mp3 file) Doesn't he sound presidential? Here is...

Reid Wilson of Real Clear Politics had a column yesterday, "Dems finding success in the center" about how democrats have been having success winning House seats by recruiting "conservative" democrat candidates, and they were following the model again in 2008. While it is true that the democrat party has had success in executing this tactic, this success is due more to their ability to fool the public about these candidates than anything else. Wilson mentioned a few members such as John Barrow of Georgia and Heath Shuler of North Carolina (perhaps better known in the South for his college football...

Plenty of evidence has existed before, but now the conclusion is inescapable: the Democrats cannot understand the most basic law of economics, the law of supply and demand. Faced with spiraling fuel costs and a demand to act, the Democrat-controlled Congress cannot or will not act. Nancy Pelosi claims the idea to drill in protected coastal areas is a “hoax” and is “echoing the demands of big oil.” Ms. Pelosi, whose husband’s company has received millions of dollars worth of government contracts directly as a result of her efforts, states a plan to release the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to consumers,...

So in addition to the Demos attempting to cram down our throats an unqualified and inexperienced candidate for President...we've got to deal with the Wesley Clark backing Noriega. In a letter distributed to Noriega-ites, Clark talks about Senator Jim Webb's victory in Virginia against a Republican incumbent with a large war chest in the bank...expecting us to believe that Noriega can take Cornyn based on what exactly? Hope? Wishful thinking? Clark mentions how he is friends with Noriega: "I know Rick personally, and I know he'll be a great Senator for Texas." Well that's great Wes! But Texas needs more...

For the first time in over 30 years, the United States will station diplomats in Iran, marking a major turn around in Bush Administration policy. I am, to say the least, bewildered at President Bush's recent change of heart on diplomatic relationships with two of the three actors in his now infamous "Axis of Evil", North Korea and Iran. The administration is already going to be sending Undersecretary of State William Burns to attend talks with Iran, although he will be there primarily "to listen": [T]he Bush administration has decided to abandon its longstanding position that it will only meet...

Both Presidential contenders have released a list of their top Texan Contributors on their respective websites... While McCain released the donors occupation and employer, Barry withheld that information. Granted that information is public record that can be located on the Federal Election Commission website, my question is why did the Obama campaign go out of there way to conceal that information on the site? Because honestly ladies and gentleman, would could Barry possibly have to hide? ::coughs:: Special Interests::coughs::

This is a Gospel video, with a balloon message and is created with scenic pictures of autumn and the song is, “ Higher “, sung by: Evangelist Ezekiel Cash. Also the best for American GOP, just ahead and will fly higher than she has ever been.

Barack Obama "says what he thinks people want to hear" according to a majority in the latest New York Times Poll. Admittedly, John McCain's numbers aren't any better, but then again he hasn't based his entire campaign upon being "new politician" whose honesty and integrity is matched only by Christ himself. And why has the halo of honesty faded? Because of statements like those in his Iraq press conference this morning, in which he was pummeled by Democrats and Republicans alike. During the primaries, Obama insisted he would have all troops out of Iraq within 16 months of his election....

Barack Obama believes you, the taxpayer, should pay for lawyers whose job it is to find slick legal loopholes to keep illegal aliens HERE IN THE U.S. This hasn't received the attention it deserves. In pandering to his far left friends at National Council of La Raza the other day, Obama went off: "The system isn't working...when communities are terrorized by ICE immigration raids, when nursing mothers are torn from their babies, when children come home from school to find their parents missing, WHEN PEOPLE ARE DETAINED WITHOUT ACCESS TO LEGAL COUNSEL..." Illegal aliens can have a lawyer, they just...

There was a fantastic article today in National Review Online by Kudlow praising Dubya for putting pressure on Congressional Demos to drop ban on offshore drilling. Kudlow writes: "Democrats keep saying that it will take 10 years or longer to produce oil from the offshore areas. And they say that oil prices won’t decline for at least that long. And they, along with Obama and McCain, bash so-called oil speculators. And today we had a real-world example as to why they are wrong. All of them. Reid, Pelosi, Obama, McCain — all of them." Kudlow adds: "Crude-oil futures for August...

Presidential hopeful John McCain address La Raza Unida, in attempts to swing the Hispanic vote his way. When the moderators of the event attempted to end questioning John McCain refused handing his microphone to members of the audience to allow their questions to be presented and answered. Obama then attempted to hit McCain's record (again) by saying he admired McCain & Kennedy's legislation regarding immigration, but stated that McCain wasn't likely to make that same move again because it wouldn't be politically sound for his Presidential run. Evidently, Obama believes everyone in the race for Presidency has his John Kerry-esque...

I wrote about this very topic a few weeks ago as it related to some polling that had been released. But it wasn't until my own personal experience with Democrats within my own family that it became more personal to me, and its impact on this year's election more evident and probable. Many Democrats do not like and will not vote for Barack Obama. This fact was on display on my two most recent visits to my childhood home while visiting my parents and family. I am blessed to have a very politically diverse family. I have an ardently Republican...

The way I see it, there are three albatrosses we should be hanging around the necks of the Democrats: 1) sky high oil prices (anti-drilling, global warming nonsense); 2) the mortgage meltdown: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Countrywide (Jim Johnson, Jamie Gorelick, Chris Dodd); and 3) Iraq defeatism: (Harry Reid: "this war is lost," etc., etc.) My question is: where are the attack ads showing Reid, Gorelick, Dodd, Anthony Mozillo, Chuck Schumer and the rest of the traitors? I can write them if need be, for God's sake, we should win Congress this Fall. Does anyone know what's going on in...

Glow Fading?: The latest NEWSWEEK Poll shows Barack Obama leading John McCain by only 3 points. What a difference a few weeks can make. (Jonathan Darma, 7/11/08, Newsweek) A month after emerging victorious from the bruising Democratic nominating contest, some of Barack Obama's glow may be fading. In the latest NEWSWEEK Poll, the Illinois senator leads Republican nominee John McCain by just 3 percentage points, 44 percent to 41 percent. The statistical dead heat is a marked change from last month's NEWSWEEK Poll, where Obama led McCain by 15 points, 51 percent to 36 percent. Obama's rapid drop comes at...

McCain should throw it right back in Obama's face, he should say: Sen. Obama understands the power of perception to influence behaviors, I mean that's why he started using the Presidential Seal – even before he had the nomination. Or say: Obama knows a lot about perception, that's why he wants to speak at the Brandenberg Gate... Or whatever he can say without seeming to take too cheap a shot. If anybody from the McCain campaign is reading this, please, wake up! I wrote my college thesis on perceptions and how they impact economic expectations. And the eminent Martin Feldstein...

Luke Boggs of Journal-Constitution did a great piece about Barry's seemingly never ending pile of "regrets" that he keeps stacking up as the November election nears. Maria Menounos recently did an interview with the Obama family that aired a few days ago on Access Hollywood...which came as a huge surprise to me as I was not aware that Hollywood like to associate itself with Liberals (::sarcasm::). This exclusive interview allowed AH to speak to Obama's little girls for the first time while on the campaign trail. Two days after the first of the three part interview aired, Obama came out...

RUSH: Have you heard about this? Folks, I'm thinking, and I haven't finalized details. We've been working on the operational plans all morning here at the EIB Network. But it may be time to implement a Phase II of Operation Chaos. Donald Sutherland, who is the father, as you know, of Kiefer Sutherland, who stars in "24," posted something on the Huffington Post, and this is what he wrote. "The Democrat National Committee's Terry McAuliffe mind-set ruined the campaigns of Algore, John Kerry, and Senator Clinton, and now the legions of McAuliffe-ites who have surrounded Barack Obama are doing their...

Presidents are term limited, so they can only do so much damage to the country. What I am very concerned about is our crummy Congress, which gets worse every year, and needs to be term limited. But Congress has a LOCK on never letting us get term limits on them. So I suggest the only way to do it, is to NEVER REELECT any incumbent! In the meantime, we can try to use the presidential race to give us a boost. Such as the following: McCain is a maverick. He likes to make waves. And he specializes in townhall meetings....

One reason people are unhappy with the way politics and governments operate is that people who run for office are known to “say one thing and do another.” Thus, we have the call for “change.” Candidates for high office make frequent use of that word. Even our House Republican Conference’s recently released slogan highlights that word. Yet, bringing about change is easier said than done. The American people are aware that government is broken and must be fixed. They will demand more than lip service as our problems become more severe. Change, then, cannot simply be a word. It must...

For today's news on the war on terror, we turn to Britain since the America media may never, under any circumstances, report any story containing the word "victory", "win" or "accomplish(ed)". The Times of London is reporting on a "spectacular victory" against al-Qaeda in Iraq. After being forced from its strongholds in the west and centre of Iraq in the past two years, Al-Qaeda’s dwindling band of fighters has made a defiant “last stand” in the northern city of Mosul. A huge operation to crush the 1,200 fighters who remained from a terrorist force once estimated at more than 12,000...

John Kerry went on record on Sunday July 6th, stating that he did not believe John McCain was fit to serve as President. Additionally, he mentioned that: "John McCain has flip-flopped on more issues than I was even ever accused possibly of thinking about..." The thing that caught my attention here is that Kerry is accusing McCain of being a flip-flopper on several issues... the mere fact that he is even MAKING this unwarranted claim is yet ANOTHER flip flop from Kerry himself! My question to Senator Kerry is if John McCain is so horribly unqualified and unfit to serve...

One of the most consistent messages we've heard through out Barry's campaign trail is "We need to get our troops out of Iraq. Bring them home. We'll be out within 16 months" .... and now (not surprisingly) it appears that what the Iraqi conflict needs (which according to Barry was the wrong move and the wrong direction for our country) is not an immediate troop withdraw, like he's been promising for months now. Evidently, the Illinois first term Senator would like to listen to what the men (and women) on the ground have to say, before bringing them home. Is...

Sacramento CA - June 28, 2008 California's American Independent Party, which has a forty-year history in the Golden State, today announced its affiliation nationally with the newly-formed America's Independent Party of Fenton, MI. The Party had previously affiliated on a national basis with the Constitution Party of Lancaster, PA. The State Central Committee of the American Independent Party voted unanimously in its Friday meeting to make the switch, after which the new 2008 national affiliation was duly filed with the Secretary of State's office in accordance with the requirements of California's Election Code. State Chairman Edward C. Noonan, on hand...

There is a statue in Hanoi where McCain was shot down. I am amazed this exists: taken from http://www.everywheremag.com/places/4940/ The inscription apparently says " on October 26, 1967, John McCain was shot down here. Thirty-one other U.S. aircraft were also downed on this day, according to the inscription. " very strange. I guess they want tourism.

Day three of the Clark controversy, and things keep getting more and more interesting. Today, Barack Obama is apparently denying that his own speech yesterday in Ohio -- where we all assumed he was specifically repudiating Clark's comments -- was, in fact, aimed at Gen. Clark. Here is what Obama had to say today: "... I notice that I think in at least one publication it was reported that my comments yesterday about Senator McCain were in a response to General Clark. I think my staff will confirm that was in a draft of that speech that I had written...

As Barack Obama gets ready for his trip to Iraq (made at the behest of John McCain), many are beginning to wonder if his "unconditional and immediate withdraw" will suddenly morph into something more moderate in his attempt to move toward the middle. Kavon Nikrad at Race42008.com sites two seperate reports that suggest that is exactly what he plans to do: Observers from the Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol to George Packer, the New Yorker writer and author of “The Assassins Gate” can already see it coming: Said Kristol yesterday on Fox News Sunday: The next big flip for Obama, and...

An interesting trend has developed in the Obama campaign that I feel compelled to discuss... RUF reported yesterday on the blogger who questioned McCains military service and Wesley Clark's comments as well. In the past we've reported on Obama address not one, but TWO preachers from his former Church and their radical comments that led to numerous youtube hits. Additionally we've addressed the Obama campaign responding to members of his campaign staff refusing to seat women of a Muslim faith behind him during speeches... The Obama campaign continuously responds to all of these outrageous stories with the generic 'this is...

Hold your horses their cowboy! It's not that type of fence ya'll (Yes, I said it. I'm from Texas sue me). Demos are not in support of a fence that'll keep illegal immigrants out of the country, but they are in support of a fence that'll keep undesirables OUT of their convention. The ACLU has filed a lawsuit against the DNC regarding the fence they have decided to set up outside their Convention arena. The ACLU is claiming that the demos attempts to keep other democrat protesters out is a violation of their 1st amendment right to peacefully gather. This...

The Political Machine 2008 B For PC. Rated for ages 10 and up. $19 MY FELLOW AMERICANS: Do you cringe every time your favorite presidential candidate makes a stupid blunder or fails to support your pet cause? Well, now you can shape the message by taking the helm of the campaigns of Barack Obama, John McCain, Hillary Clinton and various other historical candidates and presidents in The Political Machine 2008. But while this strategy game is a lot of fun in short doses, hardcore political junkies will want more. CLAWING TO THE TOP: In the campaign mode, you select a...

John Aravosis of Americablog has decided that since Barry Obambi doesn't have the service record or experience that McCain does....the clear attack should be to call John McCain a war criminal and incompetent for having been captured by enemy forces and spending several years as a POW during his service in the Vietnam War. Aravosis writes: "Getting shot down, tortured ...is not command experience". Does anyone else wanna slap this guy? I believe the American people are well aware of the McCain's service record and many consider him an American hero for enduring and sustaining all that he did. For...

Wait a second. I distinctly recall Obama’s campaign chief telling us in this story, Obama Writes Off Florida and Ohio: Concedes Must Win Some Republican States, that Georgia was in play this year. It would be interesting to see how much money Obama actually spends in GA. Maybe it would be better spent defending Blue states rather than trying to flip Red ones.

You see, the problem is McCain really doesn’t like us. To a large degree he’s bought into the moonbat caricature of conservatives, thinking we’re bigots and yahoos who lack hearts. But he’s figured out a way to deal with us. He’s going to throw us some red meat during the campaign; he’ll give us some lip service when he has to and once he placates us enough that we vote him into office, he’s stubbornly going to go right back to what he wants to do. You can do that sort of thing and keep a clear conscience when you’re...

As Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were kissing and making up last Friday, Bill Clinton might have had other ideas, according to a report in The (London) Telegraph. The paper reports that even as the former president and the current presumptive Democratic nominee prepare to meet to make their own amends, Bill Clinton reportedly told close friends Obama can “kiss my ass” to get his support. The paper cited an anonymous Democratic source who provided the quote. That source also said Clinton is not making the primary effort to bridge the chasm between himself and Obama. “He’s saying he’s not...

Barack Obama recently said that spouses are off the table: In a taped interview with the network, Senator Barack Obama suggested that Senator John McCain should have done more to tamp down attacks on Mr. Obama’s wife, Michelle, who has been the target of false rumors and criticism about her personal character and her patriotism. “I think families are off limits,” Mr. Obama said, speaking in Taylor, Mich. “I would never consider making Cindy McCain a campaign issue. And if I saw people doing it, I would speak out against it. The fact that I haven’t seen that from John...

In a feeble attempt to take foreign policy to the next level Camp Obama has decided to ship their candidate overseas. The McCain camp (and Camp Hillary) rightfully hounded the first time Senator from Illinois for being immensely inexperienced in the area of foreign policy. Considering the next person to assume the Oval Office will be forced to work with the continued conflict in Iraq, experience is usually a plus. McCain hammered Obama on voting for issues regarding the Iraq war while maintaining his distance from the conflict, stating that Obama hasn't been to Iraq in the last two years,...

Remember, when you are a Democrat, you leave your individual rights and preferences at the door. You are now a cog in the great machine. You will comply with approved party policy, or you will be branded a heretic and will become fodder for a Keith Olbermann rant. Per the Party Grand Poobahs, the fun at the Democrat Convention will be supplemented with some proper dietary rules. Warning to Southern delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver this August: it will be a no-fry zone. As part of the effort to make the August 25-28 convention the...
