Thank you for discussing the point of these statements.

People who want him to insult Islam are being foolish, and I suspect their motives.

We count on people like Jordan, Turkey, and Indonesia as allies. We are working hard to transform Iraq and Afghanistan. It is necessary to encourage the moderate Muslims and marginalize the terroroists. Insults would not be productive.

Needless to say, we don't see the Salon Bolsheviki going out to supposedly "cure" the alleged "disease" of a valid religion himself.

Is he saying "nice doggie" while looking for a big enough rock?

I've taken that line since the first "religion of peace" speech, but I admit it's wearing a bit thin. Still trust him more than a 'rat.

Bush, on a six-nation Asian tour, said he would propose to Congress a six-year program worth $157 million to support basic education in Indonesia to aid efforts to build a system that discourages extremism.

Why should Indonesia receive our tax dollars?

More foreign welfare

Indonesia found ,tried and convicted the Bali bombers in an open court. They are having to fight the extremists.I pray they can overcome that segment who wants to take Indonesia into the dark ages.

Sometimes one has to look at reality and come to conclusions.

Why must he lose the tagline?

Kindly look at the subject of this thread before giving a canned response.

Exactly. It seems many people here don't understand that the phenomenon of "self-fulfilling prophesy" can work both ways. Positive, as well as negative.

Our President is trying to set the stage for a self-fulfilling prophecy that many moderate Muslims will work with us against the terrorists.

It's a good strategy. In fact, I would call it a genius strategy.

Question: Can you think of a strategy that the terrorists would dislike more?

Moderate Muslims?

You mean like Mahathir of Malaysia?

If the countries that you mentioned were true democracies, then they would not be our allies.

Things are not as rosy and you would like to think.

Yes.

Having us kill them.

Why do people continuously think that you can negotiate with terrorists?

We are killing terrorists. We are negotiating with people who happen to live in countries where the terrorists live.

Are you saying we should be murdering all Iraqis?

Are you saying it's a mistake to rebuild Iraq?

Are you kidding? How about 300,000 dead catholics of east timor. How about the fact that christian persecution and murder is common place.
