You do great work.

this east coast FReeper is calling it a night.

Prayers to you all. And to all the FFs manning those fire lines.

Well that explains why I can see flames...the fire has moved east. [shudder] I wonder if I have time to drive again over to Yucaipa before I got to report to work....ummmmm...in the meantime gonna eat my burger.

I'm from SoCal; I have relatives near 2 of the fires.

Know what you mean. My oldest daughter lives in Tehachapi, have family in Bakersfield, and friends in Ridgecrest. Hopefully they will all stay out of harms way!

You posted on the other thread that you're near the 67 near the airport. Is that the Ramona airport? Do you have news of that area?

Just put massive updates on the Grand Prix fire and the Old Fire on the live news-only thread. And I do mean massive. Whew. :)

And others have hurricanes, or tornados, or cyclones, or gigantic floods, or forest fires, blizzards, freezes, volcano eruptions, etc, etc, etc. No state is immune from natural disaster.

We are not up to 65% of the land mass of Rhode island.

Rhode Island is 668,800 acres btw. Some perspective for all.

Oh crap....no wonder I can now see flames and a huge red glow. Do you think it will cross the 'wash' and jump over to Redlands/Mentone? Lot of just gravel and sandy river bottom there.

You and spectr17 are making me hungry -- know what I am getting for lunch tomorrow after all the discussion about burgers tonight!

If the fire is in Highland that means it is coming east around the valley. Let me know if you see anything if you go over to Bryant and 38.

Calling it a night to get ready to watch KTLA on satellite. This time I am really getting off -- telling myself that!

Those areas are safe this time. This is actually worse by far than any recorded fire in SD county since 1913.

We're pretty safe in NJ, but then again walking the streets at night can be rather dangerous in certain parts.

I'm going to take off for awhile. I'd say for the night, but I ended up back here at 3 this morning. :) Take care

My local yokel friends used to live in areas that are hardest hit near San Bernardino. The apartment complex they lived in years ago was torched. It must be really bad if Peter Jennings went on location there.
