27. In the Encyclical on Christian Education[10] We explained the fundamental doctrine concerning man as it may be gathered from reason and Faith. Man has a spiritual and immortal soul. He is a person, marvelously endowed by his Creator with gifts of body and mind. He is a true "microcosm," as the ancients said, a world in miniature, with a value far surpassing that of the vast inanimate cosmos. God alone is his last end, in this life and the next. By sanctifying grace he is raised to the dignity of a son of God, and incorporated into the Kingdom of God in the Mystical Body of Christ. In consequence he has been endowed by God with many and varied prerogatives: the right to life, to bodily integrity, to the necessary means of existence; the right to tend toward his ultimate goal in the path marked out for him by God; the right of association and the right to possess and use property.

During the trial, attorneys for the Schiavos showed a film of a day in Mrs. Schiavo's life at Sabal Palms Nursing Home in Largo. Although she's in a vegetative state, said St. Petersburg lawyer Glenn Woodworth, "you can tell she has some sense of her predicament."
"It's a tragic case," Woodworth said. "She was on the threshold of her life. They were ready to start a family . . . (On the film) she knows her husband and looks into his eyes."

Doesn't this statement by Schiavo's lawyer directly contradict everything Schiavo and his new lawyer are saying today?

Terri must be guarded 24/7 and quickly removed from the Hospice of Hell. As things heat up... and Mikey finally realizes that his attempts to legally execute and cremate Terri are going to fail... I suspect he will become desperate and would smother her to insure that she never has a chance to implicate him as being the brutal monster that beat her and strangeled her on that fateful night!!!

God Bless You, Terri !!!

Kudos, Lisa! Well written. Just one addition: this case points further than calling it 'for convenience'; this case of Terri's husband and her state's court system executing her in her dependency state points to 'quality of life', with emphasis on the husband's quality of life, the state's quality of life (not having to spend the monies to maintain her dependency or the future dependencies of others), and none at all toward Terri's LIFE.

Terri has been dehumanized, reduced to a thing over which her husband, his henchghoul lawyer, and the imperious Florida court system wrangle as they seek to dispose of her in order to improve the 'quality of other's lives' ... and if the people of Florida allow this to end with Terri's dehydration execution, they will reap what they have allowed their courts to sow, but when it hits them personally, they will find they are too late to alter the course chosen by the imperious courts and judges.

Personally, I wouldn't set foot in the state of Flordia on a bet! I'm doing everything I can to prevent anyone in my family from going there, also. Too damn dangerous.

This has always been about the right to kill, no the right to die.

And it is the government, of by and FOR the people who through elected representatives and a good govenor stepped in to STOP THIS DEATH BY JUDICIAL PROCLAMATION!

I've been working on a manuscript in which I will seek to bring so many of these abominations under one notion. I firmly believe the euthanasia, abortion, ESCR and therapeutic cloning issues have a common thread ... the utilitarian exploitation of others' as a means to improve the perceived quality of the stronger lives. All share the basis of dehumanizing in order to empower the exploitation for the benefit of others.

Still wondering, after reading the doctor's report the other day...why has no one looked into how Terri got these traumatic "bone"scars? Too many unanswered questions here.

Thanks for posting this. I've gotten great response to this piece and am pursuing some leads as a result. Terri's fight is as vital to the rest of us as it is to her.

Are there any Florida lawyers familiar with guardianship issues out there?

Hey, wise sister.

Great job Lisa! I sent this story to eveyone on my email list! It is a wonderful summation of what is going on with Terry for anyone who hasn't followed the story very closely. I am really hoping that it will open some eyes.

I just reread your article. Lisa, it really nails it down. I am so glad you are helping to recruit people who can help the Schindler family right this horrific injustice.

Thanks God our elected officials in the Florida House of Reps and the good Govenor down there 'CHANGED THE LAW!!!

Just what judges facing disgruntled plaintiffs or defendants say so often..."You don't like the law, so change it!"

They did. Florida points out the CRUCIAL importance of judges....the dems know this...and they fight dirty to keep good constitutional JUDGES off the bench.

We can all help here by calling our reps in DC and DEMANDING they stand up and push without relenting for the judicial nominations of our President! We must act. Now. It is up to US to stop this madness of court ordered DEATH. Especially considering the evidence Judge Greer DISALLOWED in determining that Terri certainly needed to be starved and denied water.

Still looking for Judge Greer's email address....I have a LOT to get off my chest. And want Circuit Judge Demer's address too, the man charged with determining Terri's guardian.

We have to help prevent a MONSTER from hovering over Terri....doing the work of those two vampires-MS and girly death man Felos.
