The Voice of NASCAR Comes to Louisiana for Jindal
Darrell Waltrip to Campaign with Bobby in Monroe Thursday
The Jindal campaign today announced that Darrell Waltrip, the face and voice of NASCAR will join Bobby Jindal for a campaign rally on Thursday afternoon, November 13th, in Monroe. The rally will occur at Bubba Luigis restaurant, 2105 North 7th Street in West Monroe at 1:00pm. The rally is free and open to the public.
I am very excited to have NASCAR legend Darrell Waltrip campaign with me. Darrell only supports candidates who share his conservative philosophy and the core values that make America the greatest country in the world, Jindal said.
Waltrips appearance will occur during hour six of Bobbys 40-hour non-stop, no-sleep, all day and night tour.
Prior to becoming the full time commentator for NASCAR races, Waltrip enjoyed great success in his 29 year racing career. From 1975 through 1989 Waltrip earned at least one victory per year, with a total of 84 wins in his career. He is one of only 7 drivers to win at least three Winston Cup Series titles, and the only 5-time winner of the Coca-Cola 600. Waltrip earned the respect of fans and drivers with back-to-back NASCAR Winston Cup Most Popular Driver Awards in 1989 and 1990, and in 1998 he was named one of NASCARs greatest drivers of all time.
Waltrip won the undying admiration of all NASCAR fans for his heart-felt comments in the difficult days following the death of Dale Earnhardt, one of his greatest competitors.
West Monroe
November 13th - 1 p.m. Bobby and Darrell Waltrip will greet the public at a rally at Bubba Luigis restaurant, 2105 North 7th Street in West Monroe at 1:00pm.

I'll probably get slammed for this but I have always hated DW. He's a whiner and never thought his driving was all that spectacular. I appreciate what he said after Earnhardt's death but I still don't like him and would of thought he would be a demonrat. IIRC after a race at daytona he told the press "well if everyone would stop bumping me maybe I could have won the race." Bumpin is racing Darrell, get over it.
Glad he retired..

I can hear the groaning from DU now. :)
So, Louisiana FREEPers, is there a snowball's chance in hell that Breaux will retire? Please????

The LA general election is Saturday. On the statewide ballot are contests only for governor and insurance commissioner. All other contests were decided in the Oct. 4 primary.

As my tag line suggests, it ain't over yet. I'm from Louisiana, and no state compares to it when it comes to corruption.
If Jindal wins, this could be an earth shaking event in Louisiana. Jindal makes all of the other former Republican Governors, Treen, Roemer and Foster look like part of the Edwards administration in comparison.
True reform may be headed to Louisiana, if it isn't too late.

If I'm not mistaken, LA is not a switch--it's a hold.

I have heard from very reliable sources Breaux indeed is set to retire. He's going to open up a Lobbying firm in Washington. I assume he'll compete with Mr. Livingston.
Anyway, that's the skinny. I hope it materializes. I'm thinking of a staunch conservative U.S. representative from Louisiana whom I'd love to see go for that Senate seat.

Still glad he retired. Actually I'm a huge fan of his (& FOX's) TV coverage, so I'm glad he retired too. I can't stand NBC's race coverage . . . it's so sterile.
