This was a troubling debate. If Grover was anybody other than who he is I would say Gaffney has him skewered.

Norquist (Islamofascist stooge) slams Frank Gaffney

FoxNews Channel | 02/07/2003 | self

"Did anyone see Grover Norquist viciously slam Frank Gaffney for daring to question surrendering the GOP to Islamic extremists? He just did it on John Gibson's show. Norquist is nothing but a stooge for Islamofascists. He actually claimed that no extremists or anyone even espousing or supporting extremist views could ever gain entry to the White House due to SS "vetting". Gee, so how did those three imams on tape calling for America and Israel's destruction end up in the post-Sept 11 meeting with Bush? Norquist actually said "people with a higher security clearance than Frank Gaffney will ever have" were giving prudent advice to the President regarding how wonderful Islam is. Perhaps he forgets that he has never had any security clearance and that Gaffney was Deputy Secretary of Defense. How insulting this little gerbil is. Gaffney was a gentleman, very reserved and reasoned. Norquist was a maniac, hurling nasty insults and questions about Gaffney's mental health. Digusting.

I believe that Grover was instrumental in "behind-the-scenes" work to elect W. However, his support turned out to bite the administration in the butt later. On the other hand, Gaffney doesn't pull much weight on the inside either. Both appear to be doing much arm-waving to get attention. However, if one were to error on one side or the other, I would suggest that Frank has the interest of the country above his own interests. I'm not sure I can say the same of Grover.

I don't know either, but Hugh Hewitt's silence is interesting to say the least.

I remember the Fox channel 'confrontation'. All Grover could do was hurl the race card, much like the dems and muslims do. Pathetic.

Hurling the race card should pretty much tell you he doesn't have a believable response.

Now he's hurling the "financial trouble" card insinuating that Gaffney's only doing this because he needs money.

Why is it that Grover is so concerned about money??? Maybe his Saud friends are paying his bills???

This may have been asked on previous threads, but if these allegations are true, and based upon the reports from this interview and his behavior, could it be if he told the truth there would be a bounty on him and his family? A Norquist Jihad perhaps?

One bad thing? Start with embarrassing POTUS when, on Grover's word to Carl Rove, a couple of Islamo-facists were present at a mosque where POTUS spoke.

We're on the same page on this story, it seems.

Hugh just said he's replaying this whole conversation in the third hour of his show..
It now appears that Hugh will rebroadcast the Grover/Gaffney confrontation on WEDNESDAY (12/10) - not in the third hour of of TODAY's show, as originally announced.
Hugh want to stay with the "Gore-dilocks and the Nine Dwarfs" debate. :o)

Grover denies any meeting with Sami Al Arien.
Frank said he SAW with his own eyes Sami go into Grover's office and meet for about 2 hours.

John Loftus on WABC radio tonight says
al Arian once hosted a party for Grover Norquist.

A little additional info on our "good friends" at CAIR

Media Alert--For Immediate Release - March 2, 1999

National Muslim Organizations Incite Modern Day Lynch Mob

CAIR’s false allegations create hysteria amongst American Muslims. Death threats, harassment and acts of discrimination ensue

"One of the most duplicitous and effective tactics to destroy a person, which is common in the Washington political jungle, is to take a person’s statements, reverse the meaning, and then attack the person for what they want him to say in order to destroy him."- former government official, ISCA Supporter

(Washington, DC)—In an attempt to censor the viewpoints of moderate Muslims living in America, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in concert with six other "American" Muslim organizations have unified to stifle the First Amendment rights of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of America (ISCA), and have instigated a modern day Muslim lynch mob.

On February 25, 1999, seven Muslim organizations (see end of release), issued a statement condemning the discussion by Shaykh Kabbani at a State Department Open Forum on Islamic extremism and demanded that he issue an apology and retraction. They deliberately distorted the words and took phrases out of context from the speech, knowing it would incite furor and hatred towards the council and its chairman. In response, many emotionally-charged individuals have issued threatening statements to Shaykh Kabbani and his council members. The following are excerpts from a few of the written responses received thus far, illustrating the very actions the scholar warned against in his address:

"YOU ARE ALL ISRAELI AGENTS. WE WILL DESTROY YOU. DIE IN HELL. Beware of your actions….The Anti-Kabbani Coordinating Council is in the process of being formed…." – Irfan Handoo, Kansas City, student and member of ISNA
I CAN'T BELIEVE THE STATEMENTS IN CAIR..!!! Stay away from the next ISNA or any other Islamic conference!!! If not you will walk away limping if not worse. I swear by Allah..! –from email account billclinton64@hotmail.com
"I WANT TO SEE YOU DEAD…lets just say it’s a result of the recent tide of something that you have such a genuine fear of that you must warn your friends…[about] the extremist students…the last one you’ll ever see" – unsigned but copied to students of the Organization of Arab Students, University of Maryland-College Park
As in Uzbekistan, where Muslim extremists recently killed 200 fellow Muslims, there is a modern day witch hunt taking place throughout the world, including the West. In America, the stage has also been set for the imposition of the tyrannical practices of the extremists, but the actors and tactical approach are different.

"The carefully orchestrated and calculated plot to intimidate Shaykh Kabbani into retracting his statements only goes to prove the unwillingness to tolerate differences of opinion and belief; as well as the extent to which they would go to silence the voice of opposition. These organizations have recklessly endangered the lives of our officers and members by unjustly provoking the community against us. We shall hold them personally responsible for any physical, emotional, or psychological damages that may ensue from their irresponsible behavior. " – ISCA General Secretary, Dr. Hedieh Mirahmadi.

The Islamic Supreme Council of America invites the entire Muslim population, US government officials and media representatives to investigate this civil war and conclude for themselves who is really responsible for endangering the security of Muslims in the US.

A DETAILED POINT-BY-POINT RESPONSE TO THE CAIR PRESS RELEASE, THE TRANSCRIPT AND DIGITIZED VIDEO OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT OPEN FORUM CAN BE OBTAINED IMMEDIATELY FROM THE ISCA WEBSITE AT http://www.islamicsupremecouncil.org,

The seven organizations who have instigated the vicious attacks and conspired a world-wide campaign against traditional Islam are: American Muslim Political Coordination Council (AMPCC), American Muslim Alliance (AMA), American Muslim Council (AMC), Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), & Muslim Students Association of USA & Canada (MSA).

The Islamic Supreme Council of America (ISCA) is an educational organization based in Washington, DC.

So I guess this means that unless you agree with CAIR you are a racist and anti-muslim...even if you are a muslim.

Yeah, but have you ever heard him speak to the matter directly?

The Purge of Norquist began on WND (predictably) May 31, 2002 .
Norquist defended himself from the charges of RATner and Schweitzer, "both a couple of socialist lap dogs."

Ellen Ratner writes that I want to "bring Islamic fundamentalists into the Republican Party without regard to how they feel about terrorism or Americans, let alone Republicans." This is not true. And it is silly. It is, however, a sad lie that a handful of bigots have tried to spread to attack President Bush and others. These bigots have had very little success in getting this nonsense published, but sadly Ellen Ratner allowed herself to be used here.

The truth is that I share President Bush and President Reagan's view that the Republican Party and the conservative movement should reach out to Americans of all faiths and all ethnic backgrounds. We are a nation of immigrants and this is a strength and part of our national greatness. I believe that the Republican values of individual liberty are best for the nation and for all individuals. ...

The article claims that I organized meetings between President Bush and Muslims who are anti-American. No, never. Here, the writers are misreading the New Republic article. The author of the NR article knew that the claim that I had recommended or chosen certain Muslim leaders to meet with Bush wasn't true. So if you read his article carefully, he never said it. He only implied the falsehood. President Bush's White House sets up its own meetings and the Secret Service is there to keep out any bad guys. They are professionals. They didn't ask for my recommendations.
