Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party

In a discussion on this thread Tom Ridge's Immigration Remarks Draw Fire a post regarding the conservative angst about the recent campaign finance reform that Bush signed into law and that the Supreme Court approved (and the approval was praised by the White House), on the heals of the Medicare entitlement enacted under a Republican controlled government the following was posted:

I'm hearing Rush now. He claims the republicans have ONLY one party to go to. He has put this issue squarely on the problem. We need to vote outside of this corrupt party apparatus.

I also heard this on Rush and my blood boiled. Rush said conservatives have no place else to go and thus will continue to vote as a block to the Republicans.....and then it hit me. That is exactly what we conservatives lament about Blacks and the Democratic party. Black Democrats who vote straight Democratic and are rewarded by being ignored.

In other words, Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party!!!

I urge the same solution to Republican conservatives that Black conservatives offer to Black Democrats. QUIT! Become independents and let the parties fight for our votes. If we can't take the GOP back we should leave the GOP.

I did not change. My party did. I thank God Ronald Reagan is unable to comprehend what is happening to the party he saved.

At least Dean is a fiscal conservative, even if he is a social liberal. Bush is obviously not a fiscal conservative, as he never met a spending bill he didn't like.

Besided, nowhere in his post did he say to support Dean, he said to support an independent party. The two-party system is broken, it's time to inject a third.

There was nothing racist about it.

Your attitude is the very reason I will kick the dust from my feet when I do leave the republican party. Your condescending, superior, "my shit don't stink" attitude is another thing that is wrong with this party.

Too many arrogant maggots populate it.

It was a dumb analogy, at best.

So what are you saying that there would be more conservatives that leave than the people at the center that they are leaning towards? If that is the case, should they not pay heed to the conservatives so they won't leave?

The original post stated: In other words, Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party!!!

If that kind of stuff turns you one, then just who is the maggot, here? Try defending something positive, not that junk. Defending that and leaving the party is a double bad on your part.

We bolted the GOP in 1992 and the country went further left, not right.

Ah yes, but the conservatives came back after the GOP decided to return to its roots of conservatism. So, that proves that they need to keep us happy to keep us from bolting.

Those psychic powers are amazing. You were able to discern from her comment about a future election, how they voted in the past. Amazing. You are seriously starting to sound like a broken record, no wait.... a liberal (Ralph Nader gave us Bush, Al Gore won the popular vote, yada yada yada).

Inclined to agree, wouldn't mind an elaboration on this last point, regarding "promoted."

Any successful organization recruits people. We need good sources of immigrants to compensate for the lazy, incompetent, and criminal people we manufacture domestically ...

Define pornography. There is no authority in the Constitution to regulate it either.

The authority belongs to the States. The Feds need to get involved to stop the trade.

You promote Dean's fiscal conservatism. Protagoras confesses he is not a political conservative. I think there is a home for both of you on DU.

Why should the states regulate it when the fed needs to stop the trade?

More campaigning? LOL, I'm sure more people will be persuaded today by these statements.

Someone else asked my definition of conservatism. You have already confessed that you are not a conservative. You are here to troll for votes against Bush. You have no credibility to speak on any issue of interest to conservatives. You are someone our team should trade to France for a player to be named.

Isn't fruitless to spend time regulating it on a state level, when the fed is stopping it nationwide? That is just more state government that is not needed, due to the fed stopping it. Kinda sounds like a liberal plan to me.

There are Federal laws against murder and State laws against murder.

Do you think John Ashcroft is a good Attorney General ?

You must be confused. Regulating something is not stopping something. Alcohol is regulated, tobacco is regulated, prescription drugs are regulated. If you regulate porn (which it currently is), you set things like age limits, etc. So, as I said why bother regulating it on a state level if you are going to stop/ban it?

What does John Ashcroft have to do with the comment?

Uhhh, you do realize that a political party is a coalition of interests? We are more powerful when we stick together, even though we only get what we believe is correct some of the time?

If we leave this joint effort of the GOP, the right is weakened.... at the same time in a third party, we get NONE of what we want ALL the time. Meanwhile the country moves to the left and makes it even harder to pull back right in the future, not to mention foreign policy disasters take place that damage the country long-term. Brilliant strategy.
