Dean, Kerry Want Clinton to Broker Mideast Peace

WASHINGTON — Bill Clinton could pose a striking — and promising — contrast to President Bush's efforts if he accepts the mission proposed by two would-be Democratic presidents to pursue Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, say some foreign policy analysts.

Those supporters add that considering the former president for the job helps Democrats John Kerry (search) and Howard Dean send the right message about their visions for peace in the Middle East.

"Clinton would be a formidable negotiator. He has plausibility with both sides in the region, he knows the players and he knows the issues, probably better than any president — probably better than this president," said Will Marshall, president of the Progressive Policy Institute, a Democratic think tank built around Clinton's political philosophies. "It would be hard to pick a better representative of American interests."

Ah come on, folks. Bill Clinton brought peace to the Middle East - several times. In fact, he did it about once a year -that is, if you define "peace" as a photo of Clinton standing between Yasser and the Israeli Prime Minister of the moment.

Clinton and the Dems are delusional if they believe that "Peace in the Middle East" is part of Bill's imaginary legacy or expertise.

Why not Jimmuh Carter?

He was also a disgraced president who would probably pimp his wife (he has already pimped his country) if it meant a decent legacy. Just look at the way he managed to obtain the Nobel. (Could not stand the drooling idiot receiving the Prize - "Look Rosalin, I may have been a putz as Pres but I got the Nobel!")

Nah, Jimmuh's too addled and Bill has pizzaz.

But he will be using the same playbook.

He'll do anything, no matter what the ultimate cost to his country, to get historians to write him a legacy that doesn't make him look the sociopathic dog he is.

If this is the best Kerry and Dean can offer us, God help us all.

When I heard this insane notion coming from pander Dean's mouth, I shuddered and thought "what a stupid and dangerous jerk."

The reaction was virtually identical to the one I had upon witnessing a strategically and psychologically equivalent Dean moment -- one of his first comments as presidential candidate: (,,,and I paraphrase here) "Hillary would make a good president... some day."

WASHINGTON -- Two Norwegian public-relations executives and one member of the Norwegian Parliament say they were contacted by the White House to help campaign for President Clinton to receive this year's Nobel Peace Prize for his work in trying to negotiate peace in the Middle East.

There's been speculation in the last few months that Clinton was pursuing a Mideast peace accord in an effort to win the prize and secure his legacy as president.

AIDES PUSH CLINTON FOR THE NOBEL

At the time, clinton observed: "I made more progress in the Middle East than I did between Socks and Buddy." Retrospectively, it is clear that clinton's characterization was not correct.

ADDENDUM 12.13.03:

As for pathologic self-interest, check out Richard Miniter's C-SPAN interview; the interview is contained in my latest virtual hillary movie (below), hillary talks:ON TERROR; it is absolutely devastating for the clintons. Miniter lays out in sickening detail the clintons' monumental failure to protect America.

Note in particular Madeleine Albright's shocking reason given at the time of the USS Cole attack why the clinton administration should not respond militarily. It tell us everything we need to know about the clintons. It tell us why clinton redux is an absolutely suicidal notion.

Notwithstanding their cowardice, corruption, perfidy and essential stupidity, the clintons, according to Albright, made their decision not to go after the terrorists primarily to enhance their own legacy and power. The clintons calculated that such inaction would MAXIMIZE THEIR CHANCES TO RECEIVE THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. No matter that that inaction would also maximize the terrorists' power, maximize America's danger.

"I view Hillary Clinton as a great danger to Jews if she is elected."

former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir
Jewish Press, July 2000

I... underestimated the propensity of my people for narrow-mindedness and self-destruction (the Jewish vote for Mrs. Clinton was about 70%)....

Some anti-Semitism is irrational, founded in ignorance, as in Hillary's case....

But other forms of anti-Semitism can be earned, giving folks legitimate grievances against a people because they do crazy things like EXTEND HILLARY CLINTON'S POLITICAL LIFE!

This is not to cast the entire blame on Jewish New Yorkers; they alone couldn't have elected her. In my initial optimism, I equally underestimated the urban pseudo-intellectual's high-mindedness, as well as the Everyman's yearning for celebrity in his midst.

President Reagan refused to surrender ballistic missile defense in negotiations with Gorbachev.

At one point in their talks didn't Reagan put all the missiles on the table? But it was Gorby who blinked and said no? The treaty (missile reduction) that emerged went only as far as Gorby let it. Now, I'm not saying anything negative about Reagan because maybe it was a negotiating tactic to get the Russians to go farther than they wanted. I think clarity is always a good thing.

Yes - you're right. President Reagan did propose scrapping the missiles. He would not yield on the defensive systems just being conceived at the time. Most people pictured them as space-based lasers. In the 1984 debates, Mondale was telling us Reagan would put a "hair-trigger" on these weapons in space. Reagan replied that he never said the weapons would be in outer space, he was just asking scientists to study the problem. He could have asked Mondull how a defensive weapon could start a war. Would it shoot down missiles before they were launched?

Yes, yes, Dean and Kerry, but what does Wesley "Charlie McCarthy" Clark say? Oh, that's right - whatever Bill "Edgar Bergen" Clinton tells him to say ...

THE HAGUE -- Friday – Former NATO commander Wesley Clark was granted unprecedented privileges during his testimony at the war crimes trial of Slobodan Milosevic, including permission to contact former US president Bill Clinton, B92 reports. Clark testified on Monday and Tuesday, though transcripts were only released yesterday after being looked over by the US government.

“The oddest thing of all was that he was allowed during his testimony to stand up and leave his bench, make a telephone call, or something else,” Belgrade journalist Ljiljana Smajlovic told B92.

“The other unusual thing is that Clark was allowed to contact Bill Clinton during the testimony, to ask him to send a letter or fax supporting his claims. He was allowed to read out Clinton’s fax despite the fact Judge May always warns witnesses that during the break they are not allowed to talk to anyone.”

Clark, who is running for US president, arrived at The Hague with an army of aides, while the tribunal website carried the telephone numbers of his public relations experts. source.
