Joe Namath Drunk Interview On ESPN's Patriots-Jets Game Saturday Night?
ESPN ^

Posted on 12/20/2003 7:02:57 PM PST by Recovering_Democrat

Did anyone see Joe Namath's sideline interview with the female reporter-babe during the second quarter of the Pats-Jets game?

She was asking him about Chad Pennington, and he talked to her like Chad was going to lead them to a championship...of course, the Jets aren't going anywhere now...and his speech was very deliberate and slow.

"He's either drunk or he has some kind of disease", I said to my mate.

The very next question, the woman (I didn't catch her name) asked him about how great it was being a QB as a Jet...and Namath started smiling and leaning around her...she kept her distance as best she could as she held the mic up to Joe.

"I wanna kiss you!" Namath blurted...before he got some more composure, spoke about the team looking forward to next year...then ended with the same line "I really wanna kiss you!" or something like that.

The girl said, "Thank you Joe, I'll take that as a compliment."

The announcers were silent for a second, then one of them said, "Joe is a fun guy..."

Kind of reminded me of the story of Howard Cosell getting sauced in the booth during a Monday Night Football game.

Joe namath was the best until the pros went after his legs.

His problem was his boss "Bear Bryant" used to be a sauced on Sunday afternoon TV in Alabama. Not many people would talk about it. LOL

Dude, the guy doesnt even make the top 25 list of all time QBs.

You know more about football than either John Madden or Don Shula? PLEASE!!

You're probably a fan of a team that Joe Willie spanked on a regular basis while he was in college or in the pros.

hell..way back when Dizzy Dean, Pee Wee Reese and the old pro brought us the game of the week, sponsored by Falstaff..I think ole dizz was falstaff's biggest customer.

During one game, the camera kept panning this young couple in the stands They were kissing, kissing, and kissing. Without thinking Dizz said to Pee Wee..Look a there...he's kissing her on the strikes and she's kissing him on the balls!!!

everything just kinda went quiet for a few seconds and then continued like nothing was ever said. along about the bottom of the 6th or top of the 7th ole dizz would be "buzzing" pretty good and at his southern best. He was great to listen to on radio or t.v.

Anyone else notice this??

Oh yeah. I was waiting for someone to start a thread on this. Unbelievable. I thought the same thing. Either his mind is fried from drug use or he's on something. But yeah, he probably was drunk. Funny but sad.

Maybe the television cameras just didn't catch the mistletoe over her head.

Okay, I admit I haven't been paying much attention this season. But can someone please tell me why there are now two lines superimposed on the field? The first-down line is one thing, but what's the intermittent red one for?

Yep, I remember listening on the radio one Saturday night way back when and it was Vince Dooley's first game as my beloved Georgia Bulldogs' head coach. They played Bama in T Town, and Joe sliced 'em and diced 'em 35-3. I also remember him being constantly in the Bear's dog house, but it seemed that every game he was suspended he Bear would put him in the game sooner or later.

Can you list his "great" accomplishments, besides winning ONE SuperBowl?

The Best should be reserved for guys who were truley the best...alot of guys won one Super Bowl and alot of them are not "the best".

There are many QBs who didnt win SuperBowls who where much better QBs than Namath.

I have nothing against Namath except that his hype of the guarantee is really his greatest achievement. But what happened the next year and the next 5 years after that. Nada, one hit wonder.

She's a bit tom-boyish which I usually don't like, but she is attractive.

That's it exactly.

Absolutely correct. He is the most overrated QB to ever play the game.

I remember one afternoon, when the Yankees were spankin' somebody, Diz and PeeWee got into an argument over whether somebody could steal first base.

Diz thought they could, but I don't remember why.

And remember when he'd talk about the owners of Falstaff, the Greazadicks?

Funny as hell.
