Dear Mo1,

I usually lurk and don't post much, but I always read your posts because I love your sense of humor. You remind me of a friend of mine who is one of the funniest people I know! And whenever you ping people to a thread, it's always an interesting, positive and/or funny thread.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, your mom must've been a great lady to raise a thoughtful and special daughter like you! My deepest condolences. I'm sure you will miss your mother very much. God bless and comfort you and your family.

I will pray as you've requested.

I have such wonderful memories of childhood Christmases with my older brother and sister and usually some AF folks from the nearby Mitchel AFB in Garden City, LI, NY. One Christmas, when neither my brother or sister were there, my Mom sent me over in my convertible to pick up "several guys". There were 7 of them who didn't have any place to go and who didn't have to work, so we put down the convertible top and in 27 degree temps, I drove them the few short miles (thank goodness!) to my home. We had such fun, so much laughter, even small gifts of boxes of cookies my Mom had prepared, I think the house rang with laughter for weeks afterward.

Having these memories, I so feel for those for whom Christmas was a time of misery or contention. You've mentioned some of the problems with your parents-in-law, and I feel for you.

I will pray that your husband stands firm, spends the time with you and your children, and feels the presence of a small child, born in a manger yet a King, who died to save us all.

Have a blessed Christmas.

I think our husbands would get along fine! As for taking the phone off the hook, we do that frequently. We always blame it on the cat! :-)

My sympathies to you and Mr. B. as you think about his dad. It's a tough time for anyone who has lost a loved one.

THANKs so much for your thoughts and prayers.

Yup, you do have a weather van in that knee!

For some reason, broken bones, especially at the joint (knee, elbow, shoulder, etc.) are especially prone to barometric pressure.

I smashed all 3 bones in my right elbow 21 years ago, tripping over a sprinkler head in an apartment complex in San Diego. My elbow can tell me, hours in advance, when exactly it is going to start to rain, or clear up for that matter! Better than any weatherman on TV, let me tell you.

I have loved your contributions since you found the Dose, and want to let you know, I've been working on a building a file of the recipes you wanted(some electronic, some paper). Someday, I'm going to need a snail mail address to mail them to you! You will absolutely love what I've found in my collection of "Southern Receipts".

God bless you and yours, MS. B.

Thank you so much! I'm working to make wonderful memories with just "our" family, and hope they will take the place of the painful ones.

I, too, was blessed with wonderful Childhood memories. My dad was principal of a small Lutheran school, and the kids always had their program Christmas Eve. Dad was nervous, at least one kid threw up every year (my mom started bringing a brown paper bag every year in case they couldn't make it to the bathroom) and late, late, after the program and gifts, we'd head to Wisconsin to my grandparents. Seems there was always a snowstorm. I have two little sisters and remember arguing about who got to sit by the door in the car!

Thanks again and blessings to you and yours!

Just was watching FOX and Greg Palkot is somewhere in Iraq. He was with a group of soldiers who were carolling. After they sang "Joy to the World", one of the soldiers was asked about who he missed. He said something about his family, but then said, "The love of the Lord is here and I feel blessed." His eyes were filled with joy, love, and God's light. The other soldiers smiled and nodded in agreement. His statement gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes.

Jesus is truly the reason for the season! "Joy to the world, the Lord has come!"

Mo1, I hope you will see this, as I am late finding out about your loss. I pray that you will feel the peace that comes from knowing that our Lord is with you through the hard times. He has already welcomed your Mom home to His loving arms.

Mol, I am so sorry . I will be praying for you. Was your mother in bad health, or was this a death caused by this bad flu outbreak? In any case, it must be most difficult at this Christmas season. Praying.

It was a little of both .. she did have some health problems .. but it was the cold/flu that made her health worse

Thank you for your prayers
