The media is very bias about this. They say GWB's plan is the least we should do while the democrats plans are just right.

I want to know why is this a "tender subject"? To whom? Just who are they afraid to offend? Certainly not the American people. The Democrats are worse than the neocons on this crap.. oh I forgot the neocons were Democrats. Wolves in Republican clothing.

Alot of the rank-and-file democrats I talk to at work think that the democrats are against amnesty because Bush is for it. I tell them to start visiting these canidates web sites and start educating themselves on the facts.

The democrats

Their pandering makes me sick. They'll use any tactic for a vote.

"democrats are against amnesty because Bush is for it. "

But they're not against it. They think Bush's plan doesn't go far enough to legitimize the invaders. They would give them permanent residency and get them on the fast track to citizenship and free rides to the votung booth. What both parties are ignorng is the will of the vast majority of the people.

The flood of threads about this amnesty is over-whelming. I figured I'd add one on since it gives the rats view of this issue.

They are a scarey bunch.

I was talking about the dummies I work with not the canidates. I know how the "nine" canidates feel about it but the rank-and-file democrat hasn't been keeping up on the facts.

I hope Republicans in Congress has the strength to stop Bush's immigration proposal. In fact, I'm not sure what Bush wants on this. I know he is playing politics but does he secretly want Congress to stop this? That way, he can claim the intention (maybe gaining some votes) without suffering the result (losing conservative base votes).

You know, I can be sold on the temporary worker program if, at the same time, Bush had come out hard on border enforcement.

I kind of thought the same thing. He's taking a big chance either way.

Right, first border enforcement. The stick before the carrot.

Gephardt's answer: the North American Free Trade Agreement with Mexico and Canada, which he vehemently opposed, was to blame for low wages in Mexico that prompt its citizens to travel to the United States for jobs.

Yeah, like the wages in Mexico before NAFTA averaged $50 an hour and we never had Mexicans cross our border looking for work.

Gephardt did say he disagreed with Bush's plan - but went on to describe his own plan, with a caveat: "What I want to do is earned legalization: If you've been here five years and worked at least two years, you can get that permanent residence status.

Is Gephardt an idiot? Work 2 out of 5 years, then give citizen status = 3 out of 5 years on welfare after citizenship is granted. Simply friggin wonderful.

Gephardt knows what he's doing. He wants to flood the country with illegals, grant amnesty to them, organize them, then bus them to where they vote. I'd say they would be voting 95% democratic. Kind of scary.

He wants to dilute the conservative vote.
