I posted this as a reminder to everyone about a show on Discovery Channel called "Covert Ops" I watched this program last night, and it presented Operation Iron Grip. I can't find anymore information about it on the web, but this was very interesting stuff. For those that think our intelligence isn't doing anything worthy, perhaps they should check out the rest of the series. We came very close to an attack with Biological weapons just this past year. Navy Seals attacked, and confiscated weapons-grade anthrax in a lab run by a Russian Bio expert just 60 miles from our border in Mexico. The target was an LA sports complex. Hopefully they rerun this episode, as there are far more interesting details than I can post here. Tonight at 9PM EST, Operation Rescate will be profiled. This post is just a FYI. Thank you to the guys behind the scenes doing this great work.

Thanks for the synopsis of the show. I had no idea we averted a terrorist attack last year of this magnitude.
Dog - ping for your reading pleasure.

No problem. I am remembering some other points that were important as well.. During the raid on the bio lab, our guys confiscated alot of paperwork, and a video. On that video was the sports complex, and a split-second clip of a man. It was obvious the man didn't wish to be in the video, so camera was quickly moved. But our CIA matched the man to a known Al Quedia luitenent. They were able to track him down with an accomplice living in LA. So they not only stopped the attack, but got all involved. They raided his apartment, where they were getting funding by selling cocaine.
The begginning of the show was very good. One of our undercover ops actually knocked the suspect out and made it look like a random mugging...all so they could change his cell phone battery with a GPS tracker look-alike. Otherwise, they would have never been able to trace all his activities. This was the real James Bond type stuff.

When you open the newspapers and see that there is nothing new, be thankful for our black operators who defend our country and Constitution in the shadows.
Success is marked by silence. Failure is denoted by the frontpage news.

Is this made up by the Discovery Channel? I did a Google search on Operation Iron Grip and came up with multiple hits of an operation in Baghdad during Christmas time.

Supposedly, the operation began in Italy, stretched to Mexico and Baja, Ca., where the bio. lab was, then they got a couple of guys in Los Angeles. I saw the show and it was interesting, however, I missed the first few minutes of it, but it seemed like something real.

That's all i got when i searched. I highly doubt Discovery Channel makes things up. I'm guessing you won't find something this recently declassified on the web.

It's all about intel. If you can find them, you can kill them.
So much of this war is being fought waaaay below the radar screen. It will be years (if ever) before we find out this story.

I've caught the first two episodes of
Covert Action and thought they were both fantastic. I highly recommend!

Did you catch Rat Trap last night? Wow....behind enemy lines in Kadaffi's back yard. Saddam was planning quite alot of terrorist attacks back in March, 2003. This show is great, and the host, I forget his name, but I have seen him on Fox News as an analyst.

Captain PBear and I watched 'Covert Ops' last night and found it riveting.
It was about Navy SEALS going into Libya and extracating an Iraqi code clerk. During the operation they found evidence of a plot against a Muslim cleric based in London.
Amazing and better than any movie script.
