Several have been proposed. There was even an earnest effort made to develop a phone tree.

Jim R shot it down. Doesn't want gov or other ?more? evil types making terrible use of such a phone tree. And, constructed hereon, they'd certainly have it.

Have thought that FREEPERS in every locale need to get together face to face and develope their phone tree among those trusted on scene. I STILL BELIEVE THAT'S WORTHY AND IMPORTANT TO DO.

Short of that, through the better churches and friends and loved ones traveling between a la 6 degrees or less connection between any 2 persons.

Any better ideas?

As do I. I've seen more to confirm it for me, but I can't remember the webpages. It took a bit of searching to find them, though.

Whether it's my paranoia or not . . .

I still believe that something of that rough outline is true--at least in terms of Al Qaeda's plans and prep.

I also believe God has more up HIS SLEEVE than Al Qaeda does.

I regret to say I have little further, and interrogating Missus did little more.

She said "Sydney" was mentioned in the thread; whether that was the city, or a screen name, she couldn't recall.

After the Q/A period, I'd would veture this guess: inbound flight might've hit hard turbulence, and the all-hands was put out to get to your seats, return your trays upright, yadayada. I am not thinking this is a detonation scenario.

Cal's thread to the FAA reveals that all West COast terminals are showing green, for normal ops. If there had been an in-flight, the traffic control betwork would be reacting by now.

I'm hoping to hell this is a false alarm.

If you do a google search for Mohammed al-Usuquf you will get quite a few links for the hoax story. In fact, I think I went to page 3 of the google links and they were all related to the hoax, which, led me to believe that Mohammed al-Usuquf was not a real person, or at least had no other claim to fame than this instance.

AlamoGirl has researched and worked very hard, so I'm sure she can empathize how this hurts, we are relegated to 'chat' when our thread had provided all of us with things we never knew to protect our families, our cities, our very own neighborhoods.

Indeed, I have been involved with many a research project on Free Republic. Many were before we had separate forums for religion, chat, smokey backroom, etc.

I also agree that it is much better to have research threads in the main forum to encourage participation and seek out expert opinion. However, in one recent incident, I did ask the Moderators to move one of my research threads to the Smokey Backroom. It had become a flame-ette and was starting to clutter the political "latest posts".
