Thanks for all the advice, taking a video camera is definitely a good idea. But this is a very liberal campus so I'm going to take a lot of crap from the leftists anyway. Anyway, we're running this like most of the other previous bake sales around the country so I'm expecting similar results. So just in case I'll bring a role of quarters. :)

That is how those things are referred to. You weren't familiar with it, and there is nothing wrong with that, but you did go and start insulting everyone, unjustly.

I look forward to hearing about the results.
If it is relatively reasonable debate...no problem. But be prepared for 'problems'.
1) People have already suggested a video camera. I would make this subtle, such as from a nearby window. If people act up, you can prove that you did not start it. It is a defensive necessity (in case of accusations of violence) but also makes great evidence for people who were not physically there. If there are really good parts, you can edit it into the 'highlights' and circulate it around campus.
2) I would also suggest a tape recorder, probably on the table, under a basket or something. Liberals say really nasty things...and it is fun to be able to prove that they are often racists. Most colleges don't have a TV station, but most do have a radio station.
3) When they start shouting, use signs to make your points. Have lots of signs ready, it may become your primary means of making your case. I think a photo of a liberal screaming at a black man holding a sign that says "I neither want nor need racial favortism to compete with the likes of you" would make a great front page photo for the school paper.
4) Have a photographer, or at least a camera handy. Pictures can make or break the story in the paper...most likely the school paper will try to find one that makes you look bad. Make sure that they also at least get the shots that make you look great.
4) Make sure any required 'permits' are in order.
5) Have a copy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights handy. Hand it to administrators if they try to shut you down.
Bottom line: make it count. A lot will depend on how you conduct yourselves at the event. A lot of your effectiveness will depend on publicity after the event. Most likely the 'media' will be hostile to you. Make sure that you can feed them with material that is good for your postion as well.

I'm a UCSD student and I've never heard of these bake sales... You've definitely got
b@lls for doing it, but it sure does sound like a lot of fun... Good luck!

Your opinion is not fair. I did not insult everyone unjustly because I had no way of knowing that it was commonly referred to incorrectly as affirmative action when what was meant was anti-affirmative action. It was no insult to point out the apparent contradiction. That's like saying "I could care less" when you mean "I couldn't care less".

You could always make chocolate chip cookies..one batch with ex lax, another with unsweetened chocolate bars (broken up) and one with sweetened chocolate.
They all may appear the same....
Maybe then they'll see that its better to know whats in it(meaning: intellegence, qualifications, etc), not what it looks like from the outside...
To: Raymann
Well, I talked it over with the club president and we decided to ask that the University provide us with a camera to record the event. They give equipment to other groups so why not us? We'll do that in a week or so when we formally tell the school of our "Bake Sale/Affirmative Action protest" (I thought that was a creative way of putting it)
Anyway I'm about 6'1/230 so I'm not worried about some skinny hippies trying to fight me or from the black student organization many of who are my friends. You can't predict everyone so I'll smile and nod and keep on my toes.

Liberals believe that they have a right to demand your time. It really pisses them off when you ignore them.
Here's a good "chant/call" to use if they bother you, "War freed the slaves, War saved the Jews, Anti-war racists go home." As liberals are one slogan deep, and can only cope with one at a time, a "slogan conflict" causes great distress, angst even..... Want a few "Dean's MEAN PEOPLE SUCK" shirts for this event?

Read. Think. Post. Now, what would be the point of that??? For me it is usually reverse. No wait, it is the first and third but in reverse order. The middle I don't do until I get flamed. Come to think of it I do the third and avoid the second, but I replace the first with "skim."
Sometimes I read the articles. But only sometimes.

Prepare something written that you can hand out as a response.
They can't yell at you if they're reading and you can just refuse to speak while at the same time being "heard".
